He has been very unlucky.Remember that Su25 from Georgia war which landed safely with one engine and shattered. Here some hidraulic failure probably compromised it badly.Rip to the brave pilot,he pulled the ring and died with dignity not giving a chance to the *******king beheaders.

Tr1 saw somewhere the Nakhimov being worked on.Didnt look in a bad shape at all.The space that Granits occupied was so big.Who knows even if they cannot fit like 40 Kalibers there. Also the translator said that due to automation updates the crew would be less than 500 now

    Typhoon down in Italy
Seems that in an airshow in Terracina one doubleseater went down in the sea and the pilots did not eject.
    Hope they are found alive.

TR1 so they are putting Kh35 in place of the quadruple launchers?wouldnt it make more sense to put some Yakhonts or supersonic Clubs? Is it possible dimensions wise?
What about UKSK?Are they going to arm it with Kalibr or fix the weak air defense it has got?I find it to be rather a good modernisation on Udaloys. If they could do the same to remaining 956 and put Codag on them

Considering 3 year old T-50 prototypes with interim engines, already shown (in MAKS-2013) 21+ deg/s sustained turn rates, along with great climb performances, and the fact design bears a great lift area for instantenious turn rates I would say yes.

    Andraxxus sir

for sure we know that they are flying the T-50 performance limited, they said 5 or 6G…How is that turn rate if we compare it with the legacy Su27/Mig29 or F-22/F35?What is the performance target the plane is designed when new gen are available as per your opinion?

    thnx

Well to be fair the Mig-31 replacement would be an intercept version of the above mentioned Air superiority fighter..It replaces the S-Duck with Turbo Duck..:D

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e2/Boxlogo_turboduck.png

Thing is can the new engines work on same height and speed required for the mission as the D.30F6?

Can they replicate the inlet system of the Mig31 or design a new one that makes it possible to operate on same parameters?

Did you forget the other two equall important specs.. namly TBO hours and fuel consumption?

Or you think these parameters does not affect anything in its operational enviroments?

Edit: I might add max life hour as well, but this is not as critical in my veiw sinse the cost of production per unit will come less expensive vs engines like F135 abd F119 etc..

The 117 engine is still build upon the AL-31F series, regardless of its heavy modernization/upgrade, the development cost and production cost will be quite cheaper vs any other jet engines in the same class.

Engrish aint my mother tongue but im writing down for you a line that you didnt obviously catch on the above post.

“since they can get wet thrust as much as they want with all due penalties on fuel

As for life hours and MTBO i didnt think i had to mention it since its obvious that Russia cant rely on same figures and massive production of Soviet memories where they could afford shorter engine life and MTBO.
    Regards

With the new F117 Pak FA will be a beast.

2,5 tonnes more thrust (roughly 25kN) more than the AL 31 @145/147kN gives 170-172kN per engine!

    Thrust/weight
    Combat loaded: 1,32
    With half load: 1,54

    Thats pretty sick.

Actually it doesnt matter at all, since they can get wet thrust as much as they want with all due penalties on fuel by putting more rings to afterburner.what they are going after is the Dry thrust in the maximal regime which means another gas generator, low pressure turbine parts etc etc.this is what matters and will determine the kinematic performance, tactical radius compared to its Us counterpart.they are targeting the 10-11 tons dry thrust figure

Try photoshopping a different colour scheme on the J-20. Black has a tendency to look fuller.

Hmmm dont agree. You know the famed advice to young men,”never get black condoms,it looks slim” :diablo::diablo::diablo:

Griffon he’s got flight controls, stick, gas and pedals.Berkut posted a vid where u could see that.Seems around 2008 they were given priority and ranks were filled with young pilots, straight from L-39 and flying quite some hours.Russian guys here say fighters fly smhow 80-100 hours a year depending on type i recall reading
