I can’t believe Delta actually started the service, I thought they would be too scared to compete against those QANTAS A380’s!!!

What are they using in that route?can they use the 777 LR over water , Etops issues etc?It seems that they dont have long range 4 engined aircraft in their fleet.

With 1.15T throw weight, what would the predicted yield of each warhead be, with 6 warheads, with today’s tech?

    300 kt probably

I said 20mm is just fine (like on AH-1, AW129), and that for most jobs a 50cal might do – not that a 50cal can do it all. (And I’m not saying 7.62mm, like on the Remote Guardian Turret of the MV-22).

Going for a large swiveling gun costs a lot in weight, recoil and vibration issues.

And with DAGR being fielded I think we’ll definitely see a reduction in gun caliber.

They could put a Nudelman N-37 in it…kinda slow but wont have penetration issues:dev2::dev2::)

Since i read smwhere that Pakistani are flying Mirages for Uae maybe they give them with a favorable price to Pakistan. They seem to be pretty close in collaboration.
It will be a big boost for PAF

I really don’t like the safety aspect of a twin-engine heavily fuel-laden tanker. The KC-10A, with its third engine, is not such a bad compromise. But after this last crash of the Brazilian airliner it makes me cringe to think people trust a twin-engine airplane to be ultimately reliable. Three engines should be the minimum requirement.

Madrat i think we must wait for the reasons of the crash before making assumptions.I think there have been less incidents regarding 330 or 777 than dc-10/md-11.
After all 777 seems to be controlled more by pilot with less FBW input.
However you have a point and 747-8 could be a great tanker :)

i think Obama administration is very keen on following Buy American principle.
So if it takes smtime for Boeing to come in with the KC777 they will probably wait for it

Yeah Rodolfo it seems so.Maybe they just realising the advantages of keepin the number of warheads with fewer vectors and also given the throw weight it will be possible to put more shield and countermeasures to them.

Probably they succeded in transfering the line and whole technical team in Russia and the modern manifacture machines will help with its production.

Anybody knows if ss-18 has ampulated fuel?

Eight submarines are more than ok considering the amount of land based missiles Russia has.Probably 4 of Delta IV and 2 of III are in constant service.

I would like to ask hw viable could be if Bulava takes time fixing to arm 1 or two Typhoons with SINEVAs.It seems to have a good throw weight and range, better than Bulavas.
Another interesting news came from a post of Otaku on missiles thread.A quote from Janes:”Bulava’s in-water performance (it is launched from an inclined launch tube rather than a vertical one as in earlier SLBM designs”
Why should it be inclined?any idea?Isnt 8000km a little short?

about warheads i found this on mp.net

Disigned for a new missile complex. This design is embodied latest on it’s time achievements in reduction of the mass and sizes of the device.
    Weight 370 kg.
    Adopted in 1978.
Russian Federal Nuclear Center – VNIITF museum, Snezhinsk city.

Designed for new missile complex. Weight of the warhead – 210 kg. Adopted in 1978.
Russian Federal Nuclear Center – VNIITF museum, Snezhinsk city.

probably with advance in technology they managed to reduce warhead mass under 200kg so 6mirvs will fit for sure in Bulava

    Questions
how does Angara stand in technology, dimensions, payload to the most modern model of Ss-18?

Could it be a solid base for the design of the new heavy ICBM that much is mentioned?
