Some more pictures of my propeller could this image be the aircraft serial number?
Markings embossed on the propeller in the picture below.
The propeller came from a motor bike and model shop in Tamworth which closed down in the late 70s to make way for a new road.
The previous owners wife informed me that after the first world war a number of four bladed propellers were used in table making.
It was a simple matter of adding a table top to two lopped four blade propellers.
A Mahogany table top would make a good match for the four blade legs
Yes I stand corrected G-AIBN is a Tiger moth and the Auster with the incomplete reg is G-AJUF
Like me you don’t have to be a Auster owner to be a member of the Auster club:)

It would appear that TW706 made a second forced landing after returning to the skies with the Army Air Corp after her recovery from Thailand in 1960
Does anybody have any information on this second incident?
Auster WZ706 G-BURR

The owner says he would like to have her flying again in June for the Army air day at Middle Wallop and 656sqn reunion but these things take time.
HE 111 large model at Booker
I remember seeing an HE 111 large model hanging from the roof of a hanger at Booker in the 1980s.
I was told it was used in the film Battle of Britain can anbybody confirm?
Auster WZ706 update 9th March 2009
I have spoken to the new owner today about Auster WZ706.
Just before Christmas 2008 this aircraft was moved by road from Middle Wallop to Egglescote in Devon and is now being restored back to it’s flying condition.
The owner hopes WZ706 will be flying again this summer and she will remain in her Army Air Corps scheme and will wear the 656 Squadrons crest.
WZ706 will then move North to be based closer the new owner who currently lives in Derbyshire, the airfield location not yet confirmed.
It is hoped that any persons who have had connections with this aircraft may get the chance to be reunited with it once again in the near future.
So please watch this space and i’ll update this page when I know when she will take to the skies once again.

AUSTER MK 9 RECOVERY IN THAILAND 1960
Thanks for the information so far.
The 656 Sqn records show it had a colourful history.
AUSTER MK9 WZ 706 WAS RECOVERY IN THAILAND 1960
A recovery team drawn from 656 Light Aircraft Squadron workshops took part in a most interesting and instructive venture to Thailand to recover by air and road an Auster MK9 aircraft that had made an exceptionally good landing on a newly laid track beside paddy fields.
This type of operation was a new venture, as indeed it was for us, so the Sycamore squadron commander and his senior technical officer plus our squadron Commander, Lt.Colonel Creswell, OBE, and 2 i/c Major Pritchard—Davies arrived to watch and suggest ideas on the most practical way of doing this “Sky—recovery”.
Major Storey, ASM Penlold, S/Sgt Boam, Sgt.McLeod, Cpls. Frost—Bridges, Burns, Davison, Pickhaver, Walker, L/Cpl. Corbett, and Pte. Barker the driver
If anybody knows of the last know were about of the following people it would be appreciated
WZ706 is also the subject in the David Shepherd painting of the Auster in Malaya!

Thanks for the information regarding Auster G-AHAV
The reason for my enquiry and the connection with Australia, is a member of the Auster club recently request information on the current fate of this aircraft the request was
G’Day Folks,
An acquaintance of mine once rode in the back of his father’s Auster:
It was G-AHAV (c/n 1863).
I have traced it as far as being de-registered in 2006 through the CAA
Register, when it was owned by John Antrum.
Is it still flying?Regards
Coop
