It depends if we go post war only or we consider WWII.

If we go post war and we want to consider all the aircraft I guess the Canberra has been used in action as well….

I would go for the F18, it is the only one used in action.

The F4 it has been active I guess for less than 4 years.

The other two have been the backbones for Fighters and Bombers but never seen action

A clever move as they don’t actually have to leave Italy to perform that mission.

Italian Air Force Fighters are policing Slovenian airspace as well

So if AFM is ‘ not truly “the Worlds leading miltary aviation magazine” any suggestions for which magazine is? While it will never be everything that everyone would like — it is the best in its catagory.

With regard to the ‘ (see the overload of PAF articles recently)’ — once again —- the last PAF Cheif interview was in Sept 08 and the last feature ( if it qualifies for that- being only 2 pages long) on the Paf was in Nov 08 —- thats 9…. count them ………9 months ago that we had the last PAF ‘feature’ — it wasn’t even an article — just a few pictures ——– and that qualifies as ‘overload of PAF articles recently’

Sounds to me like some members specific dislike for the PAF for nationalistic reasons is clouding their comments about AFM in general.

If you look at the past 4-5 years the frequency of articles on PAF is very high more than PAF deserve (at least for me). If the nationalistic reasons are supposed to be referred to me, to be honest as an Italian there is enough coverage of AMI in AFM. So I am fine

The news are very good and I also understand also the UK discussions on the carriers. What I found a little disurbing is that every 2 issues there is an article or interview on Pakistan Air Force, I understand that the editor has some connecton there but enough is enough.

I would love so much to say my opinion about Made in China, but this thread is about UAE M2000.

Here are the options, the planes should be in good condition and quite expensive.

An option could be piece meal the deal and send to different customers. For instance Peru’ might be interested in some of them considering how Chile is growing, Argentina might do the same, maybe with some help.
For what concerns ROC I would not dismiss it. China reminds me of Japan in the 80s when everybody was scared that they would be the biggest power.
So at the end if UAE would decide to sell some of their M2000 to ROC they would do it and there still would be plenty of customers for their oil.

In spite of all the China – UAE trade etc, my personal view is that UAE will not do anything conflicting. It has got nothing to do with China threat. UAE steers clear of conflicting issues.

I concur and remember China it is not a Democracy, soon or later will implode

    Sorry to go off-topic.

I still think that the UAE Mirage would be an awesome purchase, especially if you do not want to have your hands tied by the US.

Of course part of the problem is how the French Government would manage the sale if you past that point everything would be fine.

For what concerns the Qatari deal with India, the Indian purchasing process has some (big) flaws (look at the trainer and helicopters)

J-10 maneouvre comfirm better than Mirage 2000 with even better thrust to weight ratio.

PL-12 is superior to Mica is comfirm by PL-12 chief designer in a recent interview.

You can go in every shopping center around the world and see the difference between “Made in China” and “Made in France”

I guess that it all ends up of how much you want to spend since quality cost.
Unfortunately here in the US the commercial always tell you that you can get a 5 foot sub for 4.99 $ they never tell you how it taste.

The operational report for the Mirage 2000 have been impressed especially in Indian service.

If I were Argentina I would buy those Mirage 2000-9 now

No, they’ve agreed to allow any countries which want to sell some T1 Typhoons to sell them if they wish. Not the same thing.

That is what I meant anyway does not change the fact that it will be very hard to see an export customer for the F3s unless you decide to make a gift of them to Syria or Iran with relatives spares.

Since all the 4 Nations of the Eurofighter consortium have agreed to sell their T1 Typhoons to other nations on a Government to Government agreement, in order to support Tranche 3A and 3B. I guess that museum and scrapyard is where the F3s will end up.

It was too much a specialised aircraft.

The only country for which the F3 could be useful and does not have Hornets is Argentina (strange isn’t it). They have large area to cover and not have a lot of money, so F16 and Mirage 2000 should be out of the equation for this reason.
