Hi,
I have been waiting for an opportunity to add some random suggestions to the Dx experience, but overall I think it is a wonderful place!
Tiered seating at air shows – it would help my naff photography if I didn’t have to try to shoot around heads as the planes taxi past/take off/land!
A web-cam of airfield activity – set to watch the apron or the airstrip if it were a live camera. This would be really cool – visiting from the comfort of my desktop!
Some way of informing us about airfield ‘movements’. I understand that if we are notified about practice air displays it might cause some complications, but how about general aircraft movements?
And, if you can find a way to set the fire alarms off in the conference centre when there are aircaft up, I would appreciate it. There is nothing more frustrating that having to sit through a boring committee meeting whilst listening to Merlins overhead and not being able to see them!!!
Keep up the good work!

Fantastic link! I loved the mineshaft ride!
Not so sure about the dogfight scene: would the remaining Spit really have gone between two 109s to shoot at the leader? Obviously done more for dramatic effect the absolute realism.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Intersting to read that PA474 will be going to Canada for …..
..oh b*gger, it’s after 12.00!

Gate Guardian Spitfires
That reminds me – I was going to ask if anyone knows about the gate guardian at RAF Uxbridge. It is a 4 blade-prop Spit, but passing at 30 mph, seen through the fence I couldn’t i.d. it any further. Is it real or a FSM? Would it be worth a return trip for a piccy?

Doc, there wasn’t a jam at that time of night, but we did find a few cones that had been carelessly left in the road so after a quick detour via Old Warden we rejoined the A1 at Biggleswade.
Now here’s a happy chap!
Cheers Robbo! Does photoshop have a double-chin reducing pluggin?
DS
It was a pleasure to see people as enthusiastic as we are about our aircraft. Ta for the Scotch Doc!!!
No {hic} probs. Drink it in good health, and thanks once again. 😀

Thank you BBMF
I would like to add my thanks to the BBMF guys and gal who organised and showed us around yesterday evening. The whole day was terrrific: meeting some of you forumites at EK, the Saga holiday coach tour of Woodhall Spa with tea at the Petwood Hotel, and a good gossip!
Visiting the hanger was a very special treat – I felt (and probably acted!) like a kid! The highspot for me was seeing inside the Lanc. The lowspot was being told off (everso gently) for answering my mobile up the gantry, as active mobiles make Avgas bubble!
As soon as I have seen what everyone else is posting as their piccies, I will show some of mine (and after I’ve photoshopped out my thumb and the blur).
DS
PS Robbo – was there a jam on the A1?
That’s funny, I don’t remember reading about there being a cabaret….
OK, all together now, in your best 1930’s Berlin accent: ” Money makes my props go round, my props go round, my props go round…..”
I’ll get my coat.

A cup of tea at the Petwood Hotel could be a good idea? nothing much of the airfield to see, some of the accomadation site is preserved at Thorpe Camp but doent open till after easter, and theres the 617 Sqn Memorial in Woodhall too.. Neil
http://www.thorpecamp.org.uk/1) Memorial at Thorpe Camp (this was originally inside the gates on the airfield site
2)617 Memorial
Thanks for the piccies. I will try to visit the memorial before going on to Conningsby.
Anywhere else in the local vicinity worth a quick look?
DS
Can I have some clarification please? On another thread, a comment was made about paying on the door. Is this the case on Wednesday? Not sure of the protocols here and just need confimation.
We will be asked to pay an amount to cover what must be some understandable costs of putting on the event after the normal closing time.
The amount was mentioned in the original email we all received. I think it is well worth it!
Don’t forget your ticket!!

Woodhall Spa
Would it be worth popping over to Woodhall Spa between EK closing and opening time at Conningsby? It doesn’t sound like there is much of the airfield left, but what about buildings/memorials etc? Anyone have any more info or photos.
Cheers
DS
Not yet.
