Merlins on the big screen – I’m up for that!

Bomber in a Scottish reservoir? Must be a Stirling.:diablo:

Hats off to the French!
What a great long weekend! Well done to all the organisers, pilots, ground crew etc etc.
And thanks to the French gent in the tank-bank end media ‘corral’ who lent my mate (a Legends virgin) advice on setting up his camera, and a 1.4x converter! I did not get his name, but he is ex-French airforce and now a full time globe trotting photographer for them. A hard life;)
DS
Well, I suppose I might wander over as it looks slightly interesting

For me it was a battered and anonymous copy of ‘Britains Wonderful Airforce’, that I found in my Granny’s newspaper rack when I was 8. I now know was by edited by Air Commodore P. F. M. Fellowes and published in 1942. There was nothing in it about the Lancaster, so I knew it was an early war time publication. Very detailed and a great read.
The picture of a majestic Stirling in flight got me hooked!

This happened to a friend (no, really!) one day going from Luton to Glasgow on EJ:
Two aborted take-off runs (one midway down the runway), then a go-around on arrival at Glasgow.
He takes the train now.
DS
Superb – well done!

Thanks for the reminder!

Lets be careful before passion turns into another e-war! We’re all on the same side:)
I favour returning to fly any aircraft that can be, includeing NX611, but I can see that in her case there are some good reasons why she should stay grounded – loss of income if she is away from the museum, the finances, whether they will get airshow bookings etc. However, just because we have PA474 flying (mostly:p) it does not preclude restoring NX611 in the same way.
DS
Indeed, a remarkably generous gift – well done that man!
DS
Well done to everyone who worked so hard to get her back in the air.
DS
She is now due back on the 18th May providing the weather is ok
Ho hum, was hoping to see her fly over Hendon on Sunday. Still, better safe than sorry – fingers crossed all goes well.
When she comes down to Hendon later in the year, any chance of a Westerly diversion over Northwood HQ? 😉 😉 😉
Cheers

Must have to many Spitfires also then.
Lets just have 1 spit and 1 Hurri or P51.etc.
Well said!! Imagine the Legends Balbo with one of each Fighter.
One flying Lanc is great. Two would be four times as good – it’s an exponential progression from there:D
DS
I don’t think the BBMK usually display 2 SPitfires, 2 Hurricances and the Lanc together, other than very special events like the LLA day etc.
One of each are slotted for Horham and Bungay, so could they fly home past Snibston? (as a typical Londoner, these places could be on Mars for all I know!!)
FYI, a chap on A.N. Other website created a very handy page http://www.quacky.co.uk/tmp/007/displaynotams.htmlthat extracts the NOTAMS for airshows and is very handy for when the (otherwise useful) BBMF Excel file does not have the times of the displays. I hope to spot the Spitfire over Rickmansworth on Saturday and the Lanc over Hendon Sunday (if it is in the country).

I don’t imagine there’s anything I could add to a ‘pm’ from 12jaguar, but if I can be of assistance with larger versions of those scans please let me know.
