I remember a quote from a US mag i think, from a guy owning a starship, commenting on the buyback programme, who said they had to ‘pry my starship out from the stiff hands of my corpse before I give it up”
good eh? 😀
It’s the same one, swapped for a Firefly fuselage, and will be a flyer in the future.
Brian
Ouch  .. that sounds like a loss to me! Especially if she could be returned to flyable, although I realize someone woud have had to put up the money…, and although we have a flyable spit with the RNlAF historic flight, who would mind if we had two? Swapped for a Firefly rack?? Jeezzz…
The Aviodrome has little interest in military aviation as it is, which is fine with me.. I love what they do with the civil heritage, that’s unique too.
Is there more to tell about the peculiarities of this deal?
Is that Dutch spit flyable?
There’s one like that non flyable at the Aviodrome museum, surely it’s not the same one?

….is a nice start to learn about aircraft recovery in the netherlands, but there are more. Cees is this your group?
I could have asked the seller what is it, but I thought we could have some fun. So, er – what is it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-SINGLE-SEAT-AEROPLANE_W0QQitemZ320017338051QQihZ011QQcategoryZ32635QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It’s a piece of crap, that’s what it is… 😀
No seriously, a derelict fancyfair ride?
This thread will become very tedious and boring if everyone just scans single kits among their stock. What would be far more interesting would be a flash photo inside your attic or whever you keep you kits and goodies. Will have a go later…watch this space! 😮
Too good not to show… and that 35 ? that’s Roubles …
I have a slight problem (and I hope that I’m not the only one) that I buy more and more kits and never get around to building them. I see something interesting, purchase it and it just sits there on the shelf. Two weeks later and there is another one alongside it – must have about 200 now and cant see it stopping.
Least the boxes make good insulation.
Help!!
Martin
AHhhhhhhhhhhh! It’s like coming out of the closet!
I am not alone in this buy-model-not-build-addiction!
I’ve tried to control it, but…. gnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn……can’t resist, see my hands go for the shelf…arghhhhhhhhh!!!… everything gets dark…….. then I recover and I am out of the shop with a box and a invoice in my hand …
Flea markets are the worst. some kid sits there with a blanket full of unused and boring toys, ususally also some modelkits bought by uncles or distant family that see the kid once a year. Of course the kid never wanted it; he’s trying to make money for buying the lastest kill -zone -destroy shooting mutant gallery game for his Xbox
How much for that space shuttle?
2 euro’s sir.
I’ll give you 50 cents; you started painting it in the frames. Now it is useless! and I want with that Do217…
Eh.. okay sir..
I’ll give it to my kid is what i say , but they are all stashed on the bookshelf …FOR ME :diablo:
Nice shots, I like the Cat; her silvercoat is more dull now than last year as result of weathering, looks much better. I had a flight in her last year together with a group of Dutch East Indies veterans.
One told of a mirror sea landing unitl they hit a trunk of lumber that sliced the belly open, and brought hairy moments as the whole thing was about making water faster than they could scuttle her on te beach…
I suppose the obligatory question W.I.B.A.L.? is probably out of place here?
😀 😀 😀
yes – it is a stunning museum. There are lines like that in other places but that is the best – not sure of another museum that can boast 19 Migs in a line. I did photograph all the exhibits but there are too many to put on here so have selected some of the more interesting ones.
The Belgrade museum would be able to get close, with all those Orao’s on the yard..
It’s your cinematic skils and the something with the light up there north that make these images almost alight 😎
That’s absolutely stunning Darren!
I’ve always loved your pictures posted here, had a look at your site as well; (my favourites; the Typhoon bike -what is that thing?-, the flowers, the airship hangars)
And the monochrome is great as well…very much like the experiment.
What would a bit more nightsky livery do to create a atmosphere; like a lit historical hangar, or wintery trees, a silver lined cloud, some moonlight, a snowcovered field at night…just to keep you busy 🙂
Don’t get me wrong; these pics are beautiful the way they are..
Love the Typhoon pics; so far I was not really impressed with its lines, but while coming in service and pictured in damp weather, this bird seems to draw vortices over every curve and protrusion it has, making it a great subject for dynamic pictures…
Dayglo aint much if it aint Dutch !
Great thread if you are Dutch!
Here are my entries:
Dayglo Fokker S11’s from the Fokker four formationteam I flew with my dad in summer 2004 from the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad; what a experience!
Dayglo Dakota: This was how KLM Dakota’s and DC2’s tried to keep their timetable and from being shot down during the phoney war.
Dayglo Davids: See more Dayglo this summer in stadiums all around Germany 😀 From the KNVB site
Dayglo Aviodrome: On a summers day’, nothing beats a dayglo photo!
Yep, my pictures except Davids; taken from the KNVB site 🙂
