I gather no identity?
However, some useful Hurricane pieces there – even if just restricted to the stainless steel plates.
Tucks Hurricane no question now where is that wood?
Now that is unusual, the guy knows what pretty much everything is, hence the labels, but god knows where he got that from. Here’s a better pic, and the P38 blower.
Ian I’ll show you mine if you show me yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and I’ll be your best friend as well :diablo:
I must say I found it a bit shocking to see People dressed as SS even some of their Kids were dressed as Hitler Youth at the first reanactment event I attended last summer, which I think is crossing the line.
They even have their own tanks, the most shocking thing was that while we all sang Land of hope and Glory and a few other rousing favorites some of them appeared to sulk in the corner of the beer tent.
Its certainly not my cup of Tea but its a free country and they do provide an opposition during the Battles, I did refuse point blank when some of them suggested capturing the Spitfire as a senario. Politely of coarse :diablo:
Having seen yours Graham, I felt less of a man! You have an enormous shed sir. The contents of that barn would fill more than a few tables at Newark, and flatten a few others. Only had a brief peek this time but going back for more, with a big bag of swaps. There are couple of tractors in there that would spoil an agricultural enthusiast’s trousers as well. And a little bit of Mosquito came home again to Wales.
Its not the size of the shed that matters it what you fill it with 😉
I could tell you……but then I’d have to kill you! 😀
Not sure about my life but you can have my right arm! 😀
Squadron Leader Ernest Derek ‘Dave’ Glaser passed away in 2001, aged 80. I believe He is buried somewhere in a Church in the New Forrest would love to know the location as i would like to pay my respects so if anyone knows please post the location.
I suspect Richard Smith at the Purfleet Heritage Centre would know.
Richard is a keen researcher/writer on Hornchurch related matters and I know that Dave Glaser’s widow gave his artefacts etc to that museum. He is your best bet for an answer.
Here:
Thanks Andy
I’ll try that
As I’ve mentioned before, my wife surprises me now and then. Turns out she’s been waiting several weeks for the latest example to arrive — a copy of RRST’s logbook. What a woman! (Sorry RPSmith, she beat me to it).
Hello Greg
I got an email from you saying you are doing a screen play but you say in the thread its a feature film ?
Have you done any film projects before would be interested to see them ?

Graham

Test results
Skid was found to remain stable on deep snow but became highly unstable on hard packed snow. Considerable blow back was experienced from the bow.
Radio contact was intermittent.
Conclusion safe to use on all MKs of aircraft with less than 3000 BHP and landing and take off speeds below 30 MPH, test subjects were unwilling to test at max take off weight and speed. :diablo:
During research for EN 398 paint scheme it seems no kill markings were painted on the aircraft, is there a reason for this ? possibly later in the war this practice stopped due to rough treatment on capture ?
CFS have all the part numbers as they overhaul these props.
Funny enough CFS are on the old Alvis works!!!
Thankyou very much
He must’ve had afew sets but are any displayed anywhere?
I have seen and actually held one pair in the RAF Museam but they are strickly not for public display. I was surprised on how advanced the design was.
I have been offered a large collection of combat reports, the current owner is byond reproach and if they are fake he certainly is not aware of the fact. Here are a sample of the subjects covered does anything immeadiately stand out?
J Thompson Sqn Leader Flight A, Squadron III, 10.7.40 damaged Dornier 17, PO Higgs deceased in Hurricane
G Gibson stamped with official Intelligence Branch stamp, Flight A Sqdn 29 14.3.41 He III destroyed
J Johnson 14.5.43 FW 190 destroyed JJ in EN393 signed Intelligence officer from RAF Kenley
PO K Gundry Flight A SQdn 257 One BF109 probable 8.8.40
That confused me to Graham. Turns out some Lysanders were fitted with a pair of 20mm Hispanos where the little stub wings should be. Made the Lysander with a tail turret look like an elegant piece of design. facts aplenty on the Spade Grip thread.
Thanks for that.
20mm cannon on a Lysander that sounds scary must have shaken it to bits when fired 😮 Seems a strange idea to fit fire power like this to an aircraft that clearly had little chance of catching let alone shooting down an EA. Also there seems little point for ground attack when you have aircraft like the Typhoon available. Cannon must have been allot of added weight to an aircraft designed to sneak in and out of Enemy territory on a short take off and landing, makes no sence to me.
