I think the lever or what ever it is is Hurricane made of stainless and starts with A prefix?

Graham, the part marked ’10’ is Airspeed Oxford.

Also, on your second batch of phots, the panel/cover looks identical to my Hurricanes Glycol access panel

I did manage to find a picture in a book of that piece and you are spot on.

The “B” shaped bits of brass look to be the ends of webbing straps – Sutton harness or parachute maybe? I ouhgt to know what/which but suffering from brain fade, I think.

There are quite a few of these they are very thin and its hard to clean them without breaking them, I guess if they threw harness in there ought to be some stainless buckles as well?

I’m racking my brains to remember what it looks like, but I have an idea that there is an assembly similar to the one in the middle-bottom of the first picture (appears to have a universal joint) that operates the 4 way fuel c0ck in the engine nacelle of the Mosquito. I’ll have a look next weekend.

Cleaned and posted before 9am hows that for keen. Its amazing what appears when you get the corrosion off. My wire wheel brush is just about had it so will invest in a new one today. I off digging again to see what other treasure I can find. It all appears in the top 2ft under which is a layer of clay, I am starting to think this is a capping layer and will try to get under it.
I forgot to add there were remnants of wood attached to the round plate with the bolts.

Thanks all, its inspired me to go and have another dig around tomorow, all this came out of a 1m square hole, so many different aircraft parts in such a confined space quite amazing. Bruce could any of those bolts belong to Mosquito there was allot of wood in the hole.

The prop is controlled by a hydraulic valve in the cockpit. It can spin from 0 to 800 rpm. At public events it runs at between 60 and 80 rpm for H&S reasons.

…and if you won millions on the National Lottery, Graham, what would you do about all the begging letters?

    …just keep sending them?

    Mark

Well I don’t do the lottery I think too much money makes you miserable. Not that I’m likely to ever find out if that’s true, could you enlighten me?;)
By the way what’s your address? I believe you are a bit of a celeb !
For those who need a sense of humour transplant that was of coarse a joke I don’t really write letters, I demand with menaces. :diablo:
