The rebels are allowing anyone & everyone to wander across the crash site freely, except for the following:
    International observers
    Crash investigators.

    Things are being removed.

I can only think of one way to interpret that.

You better not do so yet…The Ukrainian Government is not allowing a delegation of over 80 people from the Netherlands and all over Europe to leave Kiev…..in the same time there is an all out attack on the two last cities of rebel held territory by Ukrainian forces….in the same time that a suposedly truce would be ineffect for investigators to go over the site.
The rebel leader is actually asking foreign investigators to come to the site because due to high tempratures decomposition will make the situation unbearable…who told you the rebels don’t allow investigators in?

And just for once, can you all please anser the simple question in such events? QUI BONO? from the airliner shot-down…

Certainly and under no possible scenario this would ever be the rebels or the Russians. Thank you!

I was discussing India flying “Russian Types” and the success with said types.

    It hurts doesn’t it…………..;)

Scooter my friend, try and read what the guy is saying and what you say as well….

You mention India flying Russian types and the success of those types and that is exactly what the guy is telling you:

Indian Airforce flying Russian types has been very succesfull against pakistani air force that was supplied with US types….is it so hard for you to understand that US made planes can be beaten in Air to air combat by Russian made planes? There are no absolutes in war. Ask the US pilots that fought in Korea what the Russians and the Chinese where flying? Planes made in Germany, Mars or russian made Mig-15s?

F4s are flown by Greece since 1974 and are meant to fly for sure till 2020 on active BVR A2A and A2G missions. RF4Gs where are retired this year.

THK is also flying F4s on active roles but theirs were delivered later than 1974. However, THK still flies F5s in active Lead in training missions…

Also, don’t forget to count the birds that made it to the fleet at the evacuation of Saigon and where then thrown overboard to make space…

One thing that shows how good the SLUF has been in its time is the fact that HAF used to send them for Scramble duty with 2 AIM9s over the Aegean for some time after we got them. And now in the end of their life-cycles the are used as lead-in trainers for F16s. They could reach Ankara or Cyprus and come back with no refuel and that was a major reason for their purchase…

Bombers can be recalled, missiles cannot.

Missiles can be ordered to self-destruct…

You are soooo wrong amigo, check what is going on for 30 years over the Aegean sea between HAF and TuAF and you will find that dogfights cover the whole envelope, from 3m to as high as each type can fly. We even lost an F1 because it hunted an F16 to the deck and failed to pull up in time.

i don’t thing anyone is waiting any help from greece, exepted a track!

What do you mean Golden Pawn? The Qatari M2000s and some French M2000s are currently using Suda airbase, Belgian F16s are using Araxos and E3 Sentrys are using Aktio base…plus 2 frigates in the gulf of Sirti. What else do you want from a country that is against the use of unilateral use of force on a neighbouring nation? We actually give too much.

Alpha zulu yu are correct. The only base with Mirages in Greece is and has always been, Tanagra. Souda had A7s and now F16 block52.

The UK are only using the Typhoon’s for A2A roles, while are Tornado’s are doing A2G. As far as I can tell the UK does not have any stocks of Maverick’s left, they stopped being mentioned on the RAF web-site. Plus I am not an expert, but googling for images of RAF Tornado’s with Maverick’s has turned up zilch, suggesting we only ever cleared the Maverick for the Harrier.

Finally, we are at war with Libya, unless you assume that you can have a no-fly zone and embargo without being at war, this means you need to neutralise anything that might pose a threat to your ships or aircraft. So I see anti-shipping missile batteries as legitimate targets.

    🙁

I didn’t know about the Mavericks so I guess Brimstones would be used any way…However on your second paragraph last time I checked nobody had decleared war on Lybia. this is supposed to be an enforcement of No-fly zone plus the defence of civilians from military action against them….

My question to you and all who think like you:
What should the Coalition forces do if the Lybian “rebels” attack Syrti and start killing civilian supporters of Gaddafi? Doesn’t the resolution hold for those civilian lives being in danger from militant groups?

Well if you consider that part of what happens in Lybia is marketing of western technology, then there is a very logical explaination over the questions:
Why use a B2 for just 2 bombs?
Why use a nuclear sub for just 7 cruise missiles?
Why use Refales and in short while Typhoons mostly (or at least keep Rafales in the front of publicity) as opposed to other assets like Super Etandars and Tornados.
Why use Brimstones and not Hellfire or Maverics on targets out in the open desert.
Why keep on attacking any military target on site like Antiship missiles when the coalition role demanded by UN, is to save civilian lives and keep the restricted air-zone.

    And the list goes on…

I believe that if they could find a plausible reason to use as an excuse the US would even try to use that airborne lazer of theirs to check on its effects on real targets….
