I thing the Classic Wings idea would be good, even if it meant changing the Hurricane to a Spitfire.
The film is set at some point during the Battle of Britain so an early Spit would fit (and rhymes nicely)
The Eastbourne show looks a good bet for getting footage, you’re right the sea background would look pretty good.
And the large scale models might equally look good if filmed with a good zoom and with the footage speed edited.

Aha, a good suggestion TonyT, I should’ve thought of those fly alongside experiences, I imagine some good shots could be got from them. That said, the question remains about how to get footage of a buchon/appropriate axis type, unless combining outtakes with the filmed footage.
Perhaps outtakes might be a good route, any suggestions of film libraries?
I imagine the BFI might have some Battle of Britain stuff?
I have just seen this film this evening, and people can moan and whinge about inaccuracies etc but I agree with what Daren said earlier. It’s a bloody brilliant film.
I think it really showed the sense of tension an fear, and the sound was absolutely stunning and goosebump prompting at times.
The sound of the Stukas diving down was incredibly harrowing, it felt like you were the target, as many eyewitnesses have described, and the floor shook, one of many times.
The Merlin’s roar just was wonderful and really complimented the incredible shots of the spits in action, along with the Buchon.
The models were very impressive, particularly the Heinkel which I thought looked amazing, and crashed realistically considering.
One thing I might say, when the Stuka gets shot down and hits the sea near ‘The Mole’, it does look kinda small!
The full size replicas looked pretty darn good too and slotted into the real aircraft and model shots pretty neatly.
Just goes to show you don’t need CGI for a great film.
The non aviation was also brilliant I might add and the acting was on the whole quite good, even Harry Styles didn’t do a bad job!
There is one other point however that the beach looks surprisingly uncluttered, but maybe this was done just to keep focus on the actors and extras?
Overall, I think this’ll be one of those films that will become a frequently watched addition to the DVD cabinet of many and dare I say could become a classic in its own right.

Is there much information in existence about the Mosquito collision? Or any idea of where the bits came down/the accident site?

I wondered what happened to ‘Miss Velma’ I saw her disappearing off towards the M11, thought it was getting rather low, then turned back at the sight of the other machines still up. I was right by the gate where the fire engine suddenly came through, and I sensed something had happened, looked around for smoke but couldn’t see anything.
It took a while for me to realise that ‘Velma’ was missing from the flightline after the finale.
All I can say is, thank God the pilot’s alright and the Mustang didn’t do what ‘Black 6’ did (quite a bit before my time but I’ve seen the aftermath in pictures) and flip over.
Hopefully it will be repaired and running by next year, it is a nice aircraft indeed.
It hasn’t really been the Mustang’s event has it what with ‘Berlin Express’ and ‘Velma’ both having their own problems.

I quite like the line up actually although there aren’t really any great/abstract show stoppers.
Quite disappointed there is only one axis aircraft, I was so hoping Biggin’s 109 or one of 109Gs in Europe might attend.

If it wasn’t for the range of Hurricanes, the Spit Is , Frenesi and Berlin Express I wouldn’t come.

On a side note, it’d be nice to see some Great War types at Legends too, alas I doubt it shall be so.
