In pictures on the Daily Mail website, which hopefully we can trust, the pictures of the ‘R9612’ during filming show it with no code letter so I think Bob’s idea might be correct.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’d quite like to see G-AWHK in those markings at least for the rest of the season.
What actually happened to Von Werra’s ‘109 E that he made the forced landing in, did much of it survive?
I think that ‘Snipe’ might get the hump at you calling it that, haha.
It’s a camel (replica)
Aside from Battle of Britain, I really can’t think of many films where Stukas appear, and the siren is heard.
Anyone??
Enemy at the gates? mind you, those were either CGI or Scale Models
Thanks for all the very useful and insightful comments, I appreciate it immensely
Speak to the DH Moth Club as a start, they will know almost all the ‘players’ in the fabric business.
As an apprentice somewhere, you would expect very little in the way of wages ( at first) but at least it is cheaper than £9,000 a year for a university course !
Yes, true. and I think I’d prefer the much more practical nature of such an apprenticeship
Hi Chris,
Have you consider joining the RAF as an aircraft technician? Then once your in you can put in your posting preferences on JPA for a position on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight? Although a sought after posting, someone has to get it! Even if you don’t you still get the apprenticeship in engineering and a good career! I managed to spend a couple of years as a volunteer on the BBMF as a Harrier maintainer in the Royal Navy at RAF Wittering! It’s amazing what can be achieved if you want to! Good luck!
Ta Stewart, I have had a brief look at that route, I might have a more in depth one when I’m not revising, which is a lot at the moment.
That’s sounds interesting, I see how useful it would be to, as you but it, see some ‘new blood’ in the fabricating business.
I think I might make some enquiries about jobs in this area.
Who do you recommend I contact?, perhaps not immediately, but when I’ve finished Further education.
Thanks very much, I’ll look into that
Isn’t the fuselage of G-BLKZ at Duxford, or was?
Edit: Just saw a picture in a website post dated 21.1.16 showing the fuselage at Newquay!
Ta, looks like She’s changed quite a bit from its film days, looking at what I assume are recent pictures of her.
I came up with a ‘new’ song, well I say ‘new’
‘Maid Of Harlech’ Rot awayee,
TIGHAR is hov’ring o’er ye,
In the sand you sink beneath us,
Hear ye not her rivets creak?’
Apologies to the writer of ‘Men of Harlech’
