So is that him?
Some very clear shots, very well done!
Incidentally, I’ve searched google for Hptm Gunther Friedrich of Stab NJG1 and drawn a blank so far
What was he flying at the time? does it say? a 110?
Can’t wait to see her take to the skies again!
I thought this post was referring to their Hawker Hurricane IIA Z2389 project at first.
I alas never got to see G-HURR, she does look amazing in he pictures I’ve seen, there haven’t been many preserved Hurris in night fighter markings I’ve seen, apart from the BBMF’s mk II for a time.
You would have to send the Blenheim back to Canada.
Ok, ok, I get the picture, what I said was high handed and on the spare of the moment, but I don’t want what I repeat again is my favourite Mark of Spitfire potentially disappearing from English skies, To be honest I think things should just stay as they are because it seems to be working fine!
I do not wish to cause and argument Stan, but I cannot help but notice, you do not live in England, so your view is likely just as biased as mine!
Maybe it was a bit Parochial and I apologise, but I’d rather see a few of my favourite Spitfire than have them all sold off abroad or, if the doom-sayers are correct, grounded as static exhibits in the near future, leaving 0 airworthy examples of them in England!
Personally I think the Spitfire Mark I is my favourite Mark of all the spitfires, I’m sure many others have different ideas, but I just have loved them since I was little.
I would hate to see any of the currently airworthy examples grounded, or sent abroad, they belong in the country above which they graced the skies to fight for freedom back in the summer of 1940!
On the subject of Shuttleworth, has the Sopwith Camel flown yet?
Apologies if my earlier reply was a bit ranty.
It just hasn’t been a good month for me regarding historic aviation
I never got the chance to see the Vulcan at old Sarum, and I will miss the 20 Spitfires at Dux because it was either Sarum or Duxford and I only really chose Sarum for the Vulcan. Now I miss a major multi part flypast.
I was just a bit annoyed that’s all, especially after waiting for ages to see it as I live near Hatfield (apparently on Green sections flight path).
I just don’t feel I’ve done enough to commemorate the anniversary to be honest
Hmm, they did a smashing job no doubt.
However, on ‘paper’ or ‘website’ it looked very dramatic and exciting.
In reality it missed out many worthy places.
I myself, after waiting with excitement saw only sky, birds, some modern jetliners, and what may have been a Hurricane but was travelling in the wrong direction so probably was not!
Green was reported to be planned to past Hatfield, no sign…yet
Anyone know where green section currently is?
Will anything pass over St Albans does anyone suppose?
