    Re:2074

Actually John, I think you must be mistaking me for someone else. I’m a “centrie”, me
Oh, and I completely disagree about the “upright and correct” bit. My experience is that it is the exact opposite. Right wingers can tend to be self-centred, mean and naturally corrupt in nature. Not all of course, that would be far to much of a generalisation. IMHO of course. But we won’t agree on that.
As far as the passport is concerned, I have no problem with it returning to blue, they could be sky blue with pink polka dots as far as I was concerned, as long as they keep it small and flexible. The large old card ones were a pain in the a*se

Heffer is a bit of laughing stock amongst right minded people (but obviously not amongst right-wing minded people which is not the same thing at all) He is rather out of touch to be honest. The fact you think he has an excellent idea says quite a bit. But then he does write for a rather biased publication

I taught 16-19 year olds for 30 years John as I think you know. They would almost invariably give their height and weight in metres and kilos when asked. They were of course aware of feet and inches but they were never used in the classroom. All of the data we used were in SI units for good reasons. I did have an uphill struggle with getting them to use millimetres rather than centimetres. So I fear you may be using an unusual sample for your assertions.

I see that that prize twit Heffer is suggesting returning to imperial units post 2019. What a plonker. The percentage of the population that would think this is a good idea will be diminishing as anyone born after about 1968 will never have been aware of them in general use, except for pints in pubs and miles on road signs

That may be your hope John, but the approach you suggest is not what is likely to happen. The UK is in a weaker bargaining position than you suggest. You might not like it, I might not like it for different reasons but the outcome is in the deep unknown at the moment

If you are referring to the “no deal” option John, I fear that you are a little naive and behind the times. There was no mention of it in her infamous letter and apparently the UK has acknowledged it isn’t really an option available to the Govt. But of course if your only sources are the Torygraph and the Fail…

They also flew at Old Warden. A magical evening show in beautiful flying conditions. I may be misremembering, but it included a ten minute tailchase after the formation flybys. Simply stunning

It seems to be what the public likes and wants !

Well, a small percentage of the population perhaps. Their circulation is approximately 1.5 million, even with the estimate of two and a bit people reading each paper, which is high, then that is less than 7 percent of the adult population who actually read it. Of those who do, which on occasion includes me, not all will agree with their approach. I read it to have a good laugh.

The other thing about Fail readership is that they are quite old, only the telegraph has an older demographic

All that shows it that there are a lot of people who have no taste, discernment or the ability to see beyond the clickbait journalism to find the thoughly reprehensible approach of The Dacre Hypocrite

On a more positive note, it now appears UKIP is no longer a parliamentary party in England

I would imagine they regard your letters with as much delight as those from a Mrs. Trellis from north wales John,

“We have a letter from Mr. Green from Southern England”

I would imagine they would be a coherent as hers always appear to be

Very interesting, just wondering How are the extended exhaust stacks under the cowling going to be kept cool?

    Re:#2039

The fact that yet again you have not answered the question, “is that your view”, might make some draw their own conclusions John. I must at this point admit that I had also drawn a similar inference to Wings43 regarding your post #2036. I would imagine that would not be a surprise to you!

If you don’t want some people to make assumptions you sometimes have to be less subtle, unfortunate but true

I will personally never forget the video images of a solitary Nigel Farage facing the massed ranks of the sneering elites in Brussels. That image reinforces his relevance.

I saw that video as the most embarrasing attempt by a perennial boor, and he was duly ridiculed by all and sundry ( not including JG of course). A narssisistic man believing in his own importance. Except he isn’t important.
    That image reinforces his irrelevance
he showed himself to be an utter twit.
    Different perspectives.
