I would guess that the EDL reference was due to the Tommy Robinson banner on the bottom right. If you hadn’t seen that you might not have understood it.
And before you ask again, no.
It also appears to be missing most of the valve gear in that photograph
They could have tried harder with the quality of production.
Bannons wet dream on film.
Looks like Mike has Fallon on his sword.
New Defence Secretary required
anyone….. anyone?
Thought so. Not anything specific, just meaningless waffle. Sorry doesn’t cut it John
I think that to support your theory regarding left wing adverts you need to provide a clear example for us to consider. Without that it is very difficult to be sure about what you would define as a left wing advert, perhaps because it is that you are confused about political definitions. So please John, can you provide a link, or failing that a scanned image of one of the adverts to which you are referring
As usual you have it all sphincter about tit John. Brexiteers have a very poor record regarding spouting untruths. Your comments on their reasons for teaching are of course in swivel eyed loon territory.
Anyhow, whatever ones position on this matter, the letter has shown him to be very lazy, apparently almost all ofwhat he has asked for is in the public domain anyway if he has been bothered to do a bit of research for himself, but of course he hasn’t. And the worrying part of the excercise is his request to have links to online lectures which is definitly a bit Big Brotherish
If you honestly believe that the Telegraph sits on the fence on any political matter then there is no hope for you John.
The point is he doesn’t appear to be honest enough to explain his reasons for gaining the data. If his intention is to gather such information to try and counter any so called bias (most academics might simply call it setting out the available data and letting the students form their own conclusions) with his own brand of alternative truths he should say so, otherwise it could be thought as attempted intimidation. But if one cant win an argument with reasoned facts, what appears to be intimidation to some people is perhaps the only alternative left to the morally shy brexshyter
The difference is that those who write to the Guardian on education matters are usually well educated and show symptoms of actually relying on their own recent experiences rather that Torygraph correpondents who ( if JG is a typical example) tend to lack academic rigour, wouldn’t accept alternative perspectives even in the face of overwhelming supporting evidence and rely on experiences way back in the past
Hmmm, this is a little disturbing. It may well be that there is a purely innocent motive, but without an explanation as to why he wants the information it does smack of the Thought Police.

I am afraid that I can’t match the photo to the ground as I know it even decades later. You may wish to match such items to the image, but the real problem is the distances involved. How far would you say the horizon with the ‘tower’ on it is in the photograph? You are aware of just how small St Mary’s is?
The suggestion of contacting Gibsons would be a good idea
In addition, it is not just the field size that is a problem, the margins are wrong, the dry stone walling too low and the wrong types of hedegerow plants for Scilly.
I have been to St.Marys airport many times. The land to the north drops off quite sharply from the runway which has a very distintive crown to it, which doesn’t seem to be on the photograph
The are no fields of that size anywhere on St.Marys. My guess would be Lands End aerodrome
Ah, yet again I wondered when this old chestnut would surface on your radar-you do like to get your news a little late don’t you John. As you are quite aware Adonis is hardly a typical Labour politician even if he still takes the whip in the Lords
I think the best reply would be one that was in the letters page of the Guardian
Lord Adonis (Strip former polytechnics of university status, says ex-minister, 11 October) shows a staggering ignorance of the status and quality of many of those institutions. If we were to choose to cull degree-awarding institutions from metrics based on their actual performance rather than the prejudice and ignorance he shares with so many of his fellow ex-Oxbridge members of the establishment, some of the traditional universities would be in line for the chop. Even the “greatest” universities at the top of the pecking order are not universally excellent and have some departments that would struggle academically in competition with the former polytechnics. Would he suggest Oxford, for example, should be closed because some departments are under-performing? I think not. Do the universities need reform? Yes, but based on evidence not prejudice.
As this shows, he is simply reinforcing your own prejudice.
