Re# 251 and #255
Utter codswallop, and the leave campaign say remain are scaremongering!!
A grip on reality is clearly slipping in some quarters
Would it be usual practice for a potential purchaser,..to have undertaken a detailed inspection of this aeroplane prior to purchase?
I am fairly certain I remember reading at least two of the ST engineering team went out to inspect it before purchase.
Isn’t there a difference between being told to mind our own business and being obliged to mind our own business? Surely it’s similar to being requested not to ask questions and it not being possible to ask questions. At times I do feel that some on this forum are rather too precious about the Shuttleworth Trust.
Actually I think I may not have explained myself fully. I don’t object to the asking of the questions, nor to the hope that people have that they may be answered. It is the expectation that simply by having paid some money to see an aircraft at some point in its life gives one the right to demand an answer or expect an asset to be kept that I object to.
Regarding the Shuttleworth Trust, I only used my involvement as a personal point as I have been involved, not because I am “precious” about it, far from it. I have made a number of critical comments in the past about aspects of their governance and the very cliquey nature of some of their volunteer setup, but usually directly to them.
And nothing to do with the paying public? Without donations and visitors..?
No, not really to be honest.
It was the same with all the hooha about the Vulcan as it came to the end of it’s life. Just because I have donated to the collection indirectly through the SVAS and directly through entry fees for airshows, etc. for twenty odd years doesn’t in any way give me the right, or even the expectation, to have any say in how they spend their money.
I was also a volunteer there for a few years until it was subtly made clear I was no longer needed/wanted in that particular capacity. That gave me no extra rights either in my own estimation.
If I disagree with any of their policies, I would just stop donating (which I almost did a while ago), but I don’t believe I have any extra rights once the money has been paid over
The only really impressive thing about it is how many factual errors he could manage to drop in
You can follow his argument but it is rather skewed. If I could be bothered I’d fact check some of the assertions, but it is not worthwhile.
He does realise that it is the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland that is voting in and EU ( NOT brexit) referendum doesn’t he. Oh no, apparently not, it is just England etc. etc.
I remember in the dim and distant past you said you had had ‘dealings’ with Trevor Phillips John, and we never did find out in what capacity. I am unsure from the above post if you are now praising or condemning his position.
Perhaps you could clarify on both counts if you felt able.
you have a skewed view of life which is alarming.
Look in a mirror, and reflect (geddit) on this comment.
We all have a different view on life. Consider your views from a different perspective and you may understand why they may also be considered quite alarmingly skewed to many. They don’t alarm me most of the time just make me laugh on occasion, sigh on others as I guess mine do for others on here.
They are made not more than 250 metres from where I work part time.
A factory visit is quite facinating, although much more structured than the first time I went 20 years ago when they just let you wander around. A strange mixture of the high tech ( bonded and riveted aluminum chassis, superplastic vac-formed wings etc.) and the archaic ( some models still use live rear axles, hand formed timber frames etc.)
I think they have sorted the gearbox issues for the three wheeler now-they used to lunch the connection from the v twin to the Mazda ‘box quite regularly.
The damage done to this country by the unions can never be made good.
No, the force for good that the Union Movement has been to the country is in danger of being undone.
Another inconvenient truth not in any right wing press output I can find today.
Say what you like about Boris, but I think he came over very well earlier today.
No, he did not. And yes, I did watch it
Daily Fail lives up (or should that be down) to its usual journalistic standards when trying (and failing) to take a snide swipe at the BBC
Mealy mouthed apology makes it worse really
Shame you can’t spell sanctimony, perhaps you don’t understand what it means?
So, are you saying, in reply to my post, it was OK for a large section of the construction industry to break the law for so many years?
Why not consider a more balanced view of claim and counterclaim.
(It is not difficult to find a more balanced view than #218)

Neither ‘side’ comes out squeaky clean.
Oh, I’ll vote, I alway do, it is a citizens duty.
I’m guessing my vote on the Eu referendum will cancel your vote John
So I’d suggest you don’t bother to vote after all
