Engine certification issues if the third hand info. I received was correct. May of course be a rumour, so take with a pinch of salt if you wish.

I have had no election material through the door at all so far. Nada, Niente, niets, rien, zip, sod all etc. etc.
I guess this could be because we are in such a safe seat and I have not signed up to support any party.

My partner’s great uncle was killed at Gallipoli. Although coincidentally born only about two miles from where I am writing (my partner’s family moved to Bournmouth after the war, and she was brought up in Birmingham) he emigrated to New Zealand in 1913 and joined the Wellington Mounted Rifles, NZEF.
He died on 9/8/15 in the middle of the battle for Sari Bair and is commemorated on the Chunuk Bair memorial.

His grieving parents had a memorial to him errected in the local churchyard, but as far as we know never went to Turkey to visit the place of his death. We will be visiting his local memorial again on the 9th August.

Any future coalition whatever its form will be as legitimate a government the recent one, with the MP’s who form it elected democratically on an individual basis. I do know of people who are hoping for a hung parliament as coalition has tended to act as a moderating influence on the major party. I am not entirely convinced of this argument personally.

Who mentioned class warfare? Or is it just that whilst coming from a firmly middle class background as I do those on the right find it impossible to believe that I could possibly have a social conscience? I am sure many people have prospered in ‘toryland’ and will vote for them, for goodness sake quite a few of my friends probably will, but I am not one of them.

I don’t like what I have seen of Ed Milliband much to be honest, but I am not willing to demonise him.

To compare a totalitarian state to a potential democratically elected government is laughable. Although interestingly, the Mail seems obsessed with Kim Jong Un, there seems to be a piece about him on their website most weeks.

Edit: just in case you were wondering about my ‘nasty’ MP comment, I was talking about him unpleasant as a person, not for being a Tory. He lives in my village. I am sure there are plenty of quite nice Tory ex-MP’s.

    Trekkie,

Please, just pray with the rest of us that Ed the Red doesn’t make it to No. 10.

The only thing I pray for is that there are no UKIP MP’s elected. That would make my day on May 8th, but I may be disappointed.
I can’t personally influence the outcome of my constituency as it is so rabidly tory, but I do hope my nasty currently ex-MP gets a fright so I may, just may, vote tactically. Still not sure what to do.

You may well be disapointed about Ed, apparently the bookies are now puting him ahead of Cameron as the most likely next prime minister

From the increasingly hysterical headlines in the Torygraph it seems this point is sinking home.

For all I care UKIP could co-opt all the inhabitants of the Monkey House at my local zoo, as long as they get us out of our friendly EU.

Oh, that explains where they must have all come from. Thanks for the heads up.

I notice the Mail says that Dave reckons UKIP may not get a single seat.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3045598/Ukip-not-seats-Cameron-claims-vows-streets-revive-Tory-election-campaign.html
Even Douglas Carswell is worried, and he is the most sensible and ‘normal’ of the lot of them.
Dave was also asking everyone to use tactical voting in his piece in the Sunday Times yesterday. That’s a really positive message so close to the election isn’t it!?

So the monkeys might have to go back to the zoo after all.

It was the supression of the report as much as the nature of the findings that I was intending to highlight. Not that the tories have an exclusive history of supressing bad news.
