Is it possible to over stress the airframe in a light aircraft by pulling to hard into a turn? Do they have any way of telling you how much G you are pulling?

The blue car does look very like a Skoda Rapid Coupe but they have two rows of tail lights. The car shown is a BL Princess HL i think. (i’ve just spent my lunch hour on Google Images makeing sure 🙂 )

There isn’t much else to do in Kandahar right now!

I’ll be flying to Dubai then on to Kandahar on Sunday/Monday. Might be able to get to Newark on the Saturday though.

I think they were all Lancaster III’s fitted with Merlin 28’s which were modified to become “Type 464 Provisioning” Lancasters (according to John Sweetmans’s “The Dambusters Raid”).

I’ve often seen an earthing cable attached to the tailwheel with a croc clip. Maybe that’s what they mean?

Preserving any ship is massivly expensive. Preserving it in the water is even more expensive. Preserving it out of the water would be cheaper in the long run but massivly expensive in terms of capital cost of the facility that would need to be built to dry dock the ship.

Transporting it the Falklands, well you can guess the answer to that one – massivly expensive as the ship would need lots of work to make it safe to complete the trip then you have the ongoing maintenance costs once it gets there which would be far higher than in the UK due to the weather conditions down there. Plus the cruise ships only visit the islands for a few months of the year so revenue earning would be limited.

I used to visit it in Birkenhead quite often when I lived up that way and to be honest the ship was never a major visitor attraction, there would normally only be a few cars in the car park so I can’t ever see it being a big revenue generator.

These days things have to earn their keep and I can’t honestly see HMS Plymouth being able to do that. The Goverment just don’t have the spare cash to contribute to things like this which is a huge shame.

The Ripley Vampire went quite a few years ago now but I’m 100% certain its engine (or certainly a Goblin) is still sitting in the car park and it was still free to turn over when I was last there about three months ago. They don’t have any other aircraft or military vehicles either, the Chieftain, Saracan and Fox i think went a while back. They often have some very tatty Landrovers they are trying to sell though.
Much of what Anchor try and sell has dream world pricing to be honest so it doesn’t supprise me they wanted £3k for the engine.

We already have Typhoons based at MPA so why would we need a carrier and Harriers? Plus the air bridge is in place now so resupply and getting additional troops there if needed would be fairly easy.
