F-104, Draken, F-111
Huh ? Okay with the F-104 or F-111, but what was wrong with the Draken ?
Now, to answer this thread’s question: how about the B-58 Hustler ?
French troops landed in Tessalit airport:

North pole soon?
Who knows ? 😀
Someone said the F8U Crusader was ugly, I take exception to that.
Count me in as your main supporter for that matter. 🙂
Many photos of F1CR using dumb bombs are available
Yup! But they are somewhat old, as far as french F1s are concerned. For foreign air forces F1s, of course, I can’t be that positive.
According to this blog (in french), there’s not much of a Mali air force, apart (maybe) two operationnal Mi-24s…

*EDIT*
Another point:
Frenchies might get a taste of what the Libyans experienced in the Toyota War (Libyan Invasion of Chad) in the 1980s (i.e. mobile opponent able to strike anywhere and then disappear into the desert).
Well… a “Toyota War” is something the french army can do too. In fact I’ve seen a lot of picture of French soldiers patrolling the desert in armed Toyotas or ACMATs, in Chad or in Djibouti, during the 80’s and 90’s…
And remember that during the Libyan invasion of Chad, the Chadian were supported by France who watched their Toyota War as a prime witness…
On another slant, if you allow me.. 😉
Don’t the French now wished they had bought some Super Tucanos from Embraer? For the cost of the Mirage’s fuel bill alone here they could get at least some 12 used A-29s from Brazil on the quick and dirty pending the eventual delivery of their own brand new Super Tucanos. 😉
Coments?
Hammer
Well… I don’t like single-engine manned COIN aircrafts. But that reminds me that in the early 60’s, our Air Force was very interested in purchasing the Grumman OV-1 Mohawk, to the point that a license production agreement was signed with Breguet Aviation.
Since Breguet later merged with Dassault, maybe that Dassault still owns the right of manufacture and could try to revive the deal…
From another thread…
It would be great for the typhoon indeed. How many and where would they carry it and on which pylons?
I suppose you could fit 3 of them on the inside wing pylon and still carry 2 fuel tanks and 1 LDP. Not too shabby.
Nic
Three AASM under a wing ? Would the typhon’s ground clearance allow that ?

first written page is telling….They heavily praise the rafale (and even its PESA radar!) while they are quite harsh with the typhoon : weak EW and sensor fusion….
That will rocks some pre-concieved ideas !
Uhu ? If the document is genuine, can someone explain me why it is written in English ?
An official Swiss memo would be written in German, French or Italian, right ?
*EDIT*
Forget my question. Already answered to, my bad…
since the USAF is going to get rid of all of its A-10s, who would be interested in buying these retired birds?
South Korea?
Afghanistan?
Iraq?
Turkey?
Well… I want the A-10 to be purchased by the French Army Aviation (ALAT).
And I want this version to be carrier-capable!
Sweet dream, I know…
You call THAT hawt?
Sir, your question looks too much like a trap. I therefore decline to answer… 😀
Hell yes.
Heh! 😀
Okay! And know back to The Very Important Question: who’s the Hawt chick on the picture ?
@Twinblade: what does “Dassault bahane kar ke le gayi dil” mean Just curious…
The same way it is said in English. Proper nouns are same everywhere. There might not be any special name given.earlier there used to be one for every aircraft. But now its not.everbody calls the Su 30 as either “sukhoi” or the “Su30MKI” pronouncing Su as “soo/sue”
Btw..although most of the aircraft have Indian names like “Vajra” for Mirage or ‘baaz’ for Mig 29 , or shamser for the Jag , I have never heard any pilot call them by those names[only parade commentators do].everybody just calls them jaguar , mirage and mig etc.
If it’s the same way it is said in English, I suppose it is more like “Rafael”…
practice of giving Indian names to foreign a/c has been dropped since the su-30mki.
I didn’t know that, thank for the clearing, both of you… 🙂
Question of secondary importance, but: what name would the IAF give to the Rafale ? How does one say “Rafale” in Hindi ?
