    what is weight of Scalp? 3 tanks= 4500KG and 4 MICA=500KG.

    A Sclap is around 1300 kg.

    That said, you state that 3 tanks= 4500KG and 4 MICA=500KG, then I think that:

    1-a MICA weight 112kg, so 4 MICA weight 448kg. Still, you’re close.

    but:

    2-if 3 tanks = 4500kg, this means that each 2000 litres tanks weight 1500 kg. I’m not sure, but I think that a 2000 litres tanks weights more around 1800kg than 1500kg…

    So, 3×2000 litres tank weight 5400kg, not 4500kg.

    To be confirmed, though…

    For example the RAN use a green-tinged paint that blends in very well in tropical waters north of Australia and throughout South East Asia, whereas the dark grey of the USN stands out, designed as it is for Northern Atlantic and Pacific waters.

    While at sea, most ships get dirty quite easily, so it is well known about sailors that “Dirt+Paint = clan hull”. 😀

    Fastwind is mostly based on the Gowind 200 design, with similar dimensions, displacement (1950 tonnes) and equipement, but its hull is fitted with a “hydrofoil” system to allow her a higher speed…

    As for the appearance it’s a hydrofoil-equipped Gowind, quite simply.

    I’m not convinced by the design…

    Why not just accept the truth – the Rafale and Typhoon are both on a par.

    Why not ? I assume you are close from the truth, but I don’t know for sure…

    The Rafale probably has a slight edge in air to ground, but the Typhoon probably has a slight edge in air to air.

    That’s where I disagree: the Rafale as been designed for both A-G andf A-A, while the Typhoon was designed as a A-A only.
    I can admit that the Typhoon probably has a slight edge in air to air, but I really think that the Rafale has really more than a “slight” edge in air to ground…

    The MMI in the Typhoon seems to be a little better, but frankly the Rafale is no slouch either. Put the two fighters up against each other, and it will be the better pilot (and the luckier one!) who wins.

    Quite probably, as somebody previously said, nothing leaked from the French/Italian confrontation…

    For what I know, from a French air force pilot I know who spent some time in 1996 in this country, Gabon uses its own pilots and they are generaly competent.
    At least it was the case in 1996…

    Color me stupid, but since the L-159 srrmes to be a very “complete” combat aircraft, would it be possible to turn it supersonic by adding an afterburner to its engine ?
    Being able to reach a speed of, say, Mach 1,6-1,7 would allow it to replace many “low-cost” aircrafts like the f-5 Tiger II, don’t you think ?

    The Saeqeh will fly at 1.7 Mach, or about 2,083 kph.

    Minor nitpick: 1,7 Mach doesn’t make 2083 kph it makes 1807 kph at high altitude, where Mach 1= 1063 kph…

    I believe that the JASDF would be better off with a fighter that has a more limited strike capability, such as Rafale or Typhoon.

    Pardon me, jbritchford, but are you sure of what you say by saying that the Rafale has a “limited strike capability” ?? For this bird can carry a ****load of bombs or a pair of cruise missiles… 😮

    The 150 figure was the original stipulation in the joint agreement in 1999 to get the project rolling. That figure is reported up to 250 in recent publications.

    Those are impressive numbers, I must say. How long is it planned to take ? On average how many aircraft would be delivered each year ?

    In the short term, the aircraft mentioned that need replacing are Mirages, the A-5s and the F-7Ps.

    So, basically almost every PAF aircraft, except the F-16s, right ?

    Other question: what PAF aircrafts are/would be supposed to carry a nuclear bomb (if any) ? Are they the A-5s strike aircrafts or the Mirages ?

    Wow! I just read your records, guys, and I really feel dumb with my poor grasp on the english language, my even poorer grasp on german, and my beginner’s basics in Spanish… nothing more. 😮

    But, hey, properly teaching foreign languages doesn’t seem to be a priority in the French shooling system!! 😡
