Comparable in terms of capabilities.. its a big jump to upgrade the F-10’s capabilities from F-16C blk30 to EF/Rafale class, and I just wanted opinions if this is an accurate assessment or not.

    I don’t know, honest.

But I’m interested by any new informations about this…

However, I think the J-10 can be a good (or very good) aircraft. But despite it’s large aircraft manufacturing capabilities, I’m not sure that China has mastered all the technologies needed to design a plane similar to the EF/Rafale class.
Because that would mean that China made the jump directly from the J-8 (all in all, a mediocre aircraft) to the J-10 without a transition… I doubt it, even if China managed to get a good deal of technology from Russia (Su-27/30) and Israel (Lavi)

China me be closing of it, though…

Just my two cents, and I don’t imply being right in my assessment, after all I’m quite ignorant of the actual capabilities of China’s aerospace industry…

Merlock: you are right, though considering Putin is not a native English speaker, that is probably the least of the many problems with this nonsense!

    Agreed.

That type of conversation would not happen – as previously stated, there is no genuine European President. Also, ‘did you spot any foreign aircraft in your air space?’ is such nonsense

Seriously, yes: I don’t really imaging any Presidents and Chiefs of state of major powers playing the “nah! nah! nah! My ?bermightyplane oveflew you!” game…

Russian President V.Putin called European President (was not mentioned) and asked him: “did you noticed any foreign aircraft in your air space?”
    The European president answered “No”
Then Putin said “The Mig-39 was born”

Two thing bother me in this text:

1-As previously stated there is no “European President”, as far as I know…
2-considering it’s a dialogue, and remembering that English is NOT my native language, wouldn’t, in such a context, Putin say “The Mig-39 is born”, instead.

Native English speakers’ help, please ?

Those who have been sitting in Mi-24 series cockpit will agree that it is damnbloody hard to escape from there… Being quite big and tall (6’3” 180 lbs)I found it almost impossible to exit the cockpit in rush in case of emergency.

I once sat in a czech Mi-24’z cockpit, and I haven’t felt “trapped”. But, I admit I lack any serious experience in this domain, and I’m smaller than you (6’/1,80m), maybe that’s enough to make a difference…

By the by, the French Securite Civile (as pictured) have sadly lost two of theirs to separate accidents in the Pyrenees already.

Shame on me, I wasn’t even aware that the S?curit? Civile had the EC-145. I though they were EC-135-equipped only… 😮

@Bager1968: thanks for the datas, I keep them. 🙂

The EC-145 is a new design, though with strong family resemplance to the 117.

Thanks a lot for your explanations, slipperysam, thay set the thing clearer for me. 🙂
But your presentation of the EC-145 makes me think, that its more a (big, indeed) improvement of the BK-117 original design, than a brand new one…

    Still, I like it! 😉

    Many possibilities:

-Study the tech ? I doubt it! The F-1 is a rather old stuff.
-Using them as agressors for DACT ?
-Send them back to France ? after all, Saddam never fully paid them…

Abyway, that a very intersting picture, mm2000, where have you it from ?

Does anyone have good pics of the F-1E, competitor to the F-16 for
the “fighter competition of the century”? If I remember correctly, the
F-1E’s radome was more ogival in shape and it possibly had a different
engine. Cannot remember who the other competitors were (Viggen?).

Thanks for the help all. 🙂

On this page, but the picture is of poor quality…

The Cyrano IV ? I wonder how it compares with the Mig-23’s “High Lark”…

Anyway, nice pictures and very intresting topic… 😎

BTW I heard that iraqi technicians managed to adapt the french super-530 missile on the Mig-23… fact or fiction ?
