Merlock… Some days I wish I was there, alas, I only post the photos – its my buddy who has to work in it (oh what a bad bad boy he must have been in a previous life) I’ll just settle for the glorious (dust free) high20s – low 30s of south eastern Canadian summer and drool over the subject matter.

And here’s another ‘Regional Airport’ I think the translation is a bit off. (I’m not positive but I believe its actually Batha.)
I’m not sure, but I think I read “A?roport du Premier D?cembre de Baha?”.
Meaning “Baha?’s First of december Airport”
First of december ? Is it Chad’s day of independence ?
And some of the Government troops as mentioned previously… gotta love the ‘urban’ camouflage on their kit… fits right in at the local laundromat. (note the somewhat ‘secretive’ vantage point of the photograph)
An old friend of mine is an officer in the french army who spent some time in Chad, he had many things to say about Chad’s Government’s troops. All not very kind.
Your friend is right, it’s better to take the pictures cautiously…
