Really, what is the difference between a Carrier and a Super carrier?

I don’t know, honest (plus, I was kidding), but according to Wikipedia: Supercarrier is an unofficial descriptive term for the largest type of aircraft carrier, usually displacing over 70,000 long tons

I’m under the feeling, that it has something to do with the Panamax, just guessing, of course…

That said, the US Navy doesn’t operate Carriers, but Supercarriers…

    Just nitpicking, OK ? :p

Nice sense of perspective here – its only a ship for crying out loud

And as I said, this crying seems to have been loud in the Telegraph only, I heard none of this in France. And it is important to keep in mind that it was Bastille day yesterday, the ONLY day when the French media paid a little attention to the military questions. Had the emotion been as important as stated by this newspaper, it would have been covered by the news. I watched my TV yesterday and I have seen or heard absolutely nothing about it…

BTW: who could be this mysterious hysterical “senior officer” quoted by the Telegraph ?

French horror as Joan of Arc to be ‘killed’ by English again

Wow! This telegraph is really well informed. At least better than the French press that (to my knowledge) made no report of this national trauma…

OK, who was the joker who was begging for rain? 😡

I don’t know. But here, in Strasbourg, he has been heard : today, we had two (yes: two) thunderstorms at 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm. All complete, with neat big lightnings and a lot, lot of rain! 😀

And the temperature dropped from 30-33?C to a sweet 25?C, I can open my windows for fresh air now… 😀

    I’m happy! 🙂

Since this thread has been revived: Is the Jaguar still built in India, or has the production ended ? Just curious…

Offer them to other countries for sale or lease. It’s not like they are obsolete. I could see Australia or Canada leasing them for air defence.

Or New Zealand ? I heard that they regret the loss of jet aircrafts in their Air Force…

Or Pakistan ? Those guys are always looking for cheap-but-modern-enough kit…

Surely putting pylons under fuselage wouldn’t need that much work as I’m sure they’d run alongside the missile holes.

    Well… there’s this.

The undercarriage is actually different on the F3, it’s been stretched so it would never be identical to the IDS.

    And there’s that… Waht’s the right point ?

I don’t think it’d be feasible to put a Typhoon engine on them either. It’d be like shoving a massive engine in a mini.

Huh ? I though the EJ-2000 had been developped with the RB-199 as a basis. I expected them to have similar dimensions…

Turning them into bombers ? Why not. After all the airframe was originally designed that way. But it would require a major change in the underfuselage configuration to have it identical to the IDS version’s…

Plus, it would require the replacement of the current avionic by a dedicated one…

BTW: I wonder if it would be possible to replace the ADV’s engines by the Typhoon’s. For sure it would help to carry really heavy payloads…

Here’s a question for lovers of all things French; why can’t the French ever produce an aircraft with a retractable IFR probe? All of their leading aircraft have always had fixed external IFR probes. I think they look really ugly and spoil the lines of the aircraft.

Because, “what is not mechanical can not fail”. It would be a serious trouble if a pilot would want to refuel whil flying, say, over the ocean and not being able to deploy the probe, don’t you think ?

In short: When it is simpler, it is usually less complicated… or the contrary. 😀

First Eufi to ever land in Croatia..>and the pilot forgot to lock the plane! :D:D:D
No wonder, cause ground guys immediately put food and drink on the table 😀

    Enjoy, Cola

Interesting. We see how a large bird, the EF can be (compare it to the pilot’s size)… 😮

The AASM […] has been qualified on a Mirage 2000N testbed.

It has ? I though the AASM’s integration had been cancelled, not only for lack of funds, but also for aerodynamic reasons (I read this some years ago in an Air & Cosmos)…
