Hi Guys,
I went and we were heading for the red car park which was the one which had to be closed for waterlogging. Consequently we were diverted to the blue park and ride which obviously doubled the cars going there so it was a bit of a nightmare.
I set off walking at 11.00 from around 4 miles away as I still thought the Vulcan was on at 11.45. My sister and family caught up with me at the entrance to blue and we got on around 12.15.Thankfully the Vulcan was late anyway and was the star of a great show.
Regards the send off of the F3 I thought it was done really well.Four F3s doing formation passes followed by HAC Hurri and Spit formation and individual displays then three ship F3 flypast then typhoon and single F3 high speed pass with the F3 pulling vertical into the blue yonder. All four F3s then had a trip around Fife before running in in close formation wings swept breaking to land before taxying back past the crowd for a final farewell wave.
So long F3 I do hope a couple can be saved having spent 5 years at Leeming.

thankyou tfctops, that’s kind of the point I was trying to make in my ham-fisted way earlier. This thread is, or should be, about acknowledging the Bomber Command guys who were lost doing their duty, not about being hijacked into yet another debate about the rights and wrongs of area bombing.
Glad someone can see the point don’t think area bombing worked myself but as Harris said it had never been tried. As to anti Germany feeling I think that has passed in most cases I worked with the Luftwaffe at TTTE Cottesmore and also at Leeming and we were all good friends isolated incidents will always happen.

I think the point we should be considering is we are commemerating the gallantry of all those who risked and gave their lives for the greater good of all in Europe.
It is not a celebration of the tragic deaths of many German civilians, as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the long run these actions actually saved lives crazy as the world is.

I don’t think its a slanging match but people have to realise that things are changing people who would have no problem attending last year are having difficulty this year. If you are in the fortunate position that you are not, don’t knock fellow forumites who are finding things difficult. Its going to get worse before it gets better.

Me Too
Is it a P51D
Think you’re being a bit hard here gents the person is obviously wanting to be at Legends but can’t afford it I’m pretty tight myself and as I said in my previous post if you can’t do it don’t bother but it is frustrating give the guy a break if he had the money I’m sure he’d happilly pay
Jon
Thanks Moggy
Thanks David for the link and very sad I thought PL983 looked fantstic in her blue in the 80’s.
With regards watching from over the fence don’t do it, you aren’t just putting yourself at risk but the pilot in an emergency he is going to put your safety in front of his own just by human nature.
I too am struggling financially but have managed to talk a friend into going to split the fuel but once he has been I’ll have a chauffeur for life:D:D:D
Here’s to next weekend

Leeming Phantoms
Hi Guys
I worked on VAS at Leeming in the Nineties when we had 4 Phantoms as decoy aircraft that we were responsible for.We coated all joints and fasteners in PX32 (waxoyle equivalent) and sealed all ingress points i.e. the cockpits were taped up etc.The cockpits were pretty much empty as a lot of the equipment would have been spares recovered and the seats replaced with blanks. We spent quite a lot of time prepping the aircraft that went to Brampton and its good she looks so well hope she finds a good home if Brampton does close.
We were also responsible for the gate guard Javelin and though there was a lot of corrosion she was not in that bad shape for her age and the elements.
