Heyyyyyy wait a minute, what’s wrong with the south. We are all fine lads down there… and less aggressive than then north 😉

But ruder/less friendly (and I’m from Herts).

Norway and Denmark AF depleted their A2G ammo during the Libya conflict.
But it may been a calculated move, cause then their would get newer and better ammo ordered up. 🙂

Yeah I know, the idea that NATO ran out is preposterous though.

Nato simply run out of precision in only 4 million country Libya. and it still did not prevent failed state.

That is nonsense, Nato didn’t run out of anything. Silly boy.

*snort* so they train using fully loaded, live weapons systems against manned aircraft. Wow… the caliber of some of the people on this site ><

I’m sure the justification for this would be that they did it before in 2001 so they could do it again, I wouldn’t say this is a particularly logical conclusion though.

Oh well since I’m being painted as a dirty conspirationist because I don’t believe the nato version, I’m just going to add that it’s pretty convenient to focus all the news on the Ukraine when isreal is invading Gaza.

Now there’s your conspiracy theory :highly_amused:

Sorry Nic but the RT article linked to on the previous page got there first.

Brimstone 2 for Tornado in 2015:

    http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/farnborough-raf-typhoons-to-get-brimstone-2-missiles-in-401684/

Confused title to this article unless they are hinting at the possibility of Brimstone 2 being on Typhoon sooner rather than later too.

I’m pretty sure I read that the MOD were aiming on speeding up integration on Typhoon? This would have been in the last few weeks as well.

    Two-way datalink for in-flight re-targeting?

I seem to remember some other improvements being explored a few years back as part of a Team Complex Weapons press release, I believe one of them may of mentioned an increase in range but I could be wrong.

More information on the UCAS side of this announcement (I assume):

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-and-france-strengthen-defence-co-operation

So more money, the same money or just a re-announcement of work already agreed?

I believe this was just signing up to stuff that had already been agreed to in principle, but I could be wrong.

So the UK would have 107 Typhoon and a handful of F35 by 2020?

They are planning to get rid of T1 before Tornado but within a year its all down to T2/3 whilst we wait for F35 to get up to strength?

There is no sense to it is there? It’s like something is missing….

Well it is the MOD, common sense isn’t really in it’s remit.

Have the US secured rights for continual presence of armed Reapers and Predators in Iraq? If not then they will have pretty damned soon and I would expect them to be making strikes against ISIS pretty soon?

The model is showing the top of the conning tower with the hatches “removed”.

Surely the outlines of the hatches would be visible in the photo as thery are on other SSBNs? The finished sub doesn’t look like it has those circular hatches for the SLBM tubes at all as the surface of the tower looks rather too smooth? You would expect some visible circular outlines in the same way that the upper 2 Torpedo hatches are visible?

Type 032 model. The sub can hold two SLBMs in its conning tower. Interesting sub.

The third picture suggests it’s 3 in the conning tower?

The vertical bring back is 5100 lb you need 2500 lb for fuel and 600 lb for two AMRAAM leaving just 2000 lb for other weapons not enough for a single Storm Shadow. The rolling landing will add up to 4000 lb of bring back meaning 6000 lb for other weapons that would enable to bring back two Storm Shadow.

Right sorry I thought you meant 2 Stormshadow and 2 AMRAAM above the vertical bringback weight, actually looking at your second post it’s quite obvious that it’s 5100lbs. Oh well it is Monday……

    5100 lbs + 4000 lbs is 9100 lb

    2 x AMRAAM = 600lb
    2 x Storm Shadow = 5400 lb
    Fuel reserves 2500 lb

    Total 8500 lb

Sorry Frosty I’m probably being a bit thick here as I’m not sure what you’re saying other than 2 Stormshadows + 2 AMRAAM wiegh more than 4000lbs?
