Has there been any mention of More C-17 ? They were saying that it is likely on the Radio this morning
It’s been posted on here, probably been speculated in the more knowledgeable press for a couple of weeks now.

Muxworthy: Cuts ‘hasty and ill-concieved’
Tuesday, 15, Dec 2009 12:00
John Muxworthy, chief executive of the UK National Defence Association (UKNDA), comments on the MoD:
“These arbitrary cuts in our defence capabilities are hasty and ill-conceived. While Afghanistan is at last beginning to receive the force levels and support required to enable us to take the conflict to the enemy, this is being done at the expense of the wider and longer-term security of the country.
“Even if operations in Afghanistan were to be completed tomorrow, the threats in the rest of the world have not gone away, and the counter-insurgency posture specific to Afghanistan is of little use if we have to confront a peer competitor. At present, whole capabilities of conventional war-fighting have been lost or reduced to token strength and the expertise that played such a crucial role in both Gulf wars is now slipping away.”
“All political parties acknowledge the need for a proper defence review where resources are honestly matched to security threats. But to cut a further £1.5 billion, on top of the £2 billion last year, is a defence review via the back door. The aim, surely, is to be strong enough to deter war, not to appear weak and then have to fight an expensive war in ten years time. Or are we to repeat the mistakes of the 1930s, when Britain neglected its defence, and risk similar appalling consequences?”
Actually any sensible defence review will steer well clear of delays, and should really reset the carrier deliveries to the original shedule (the delay is a major cause of the cost overun).
NAO report says just the very thing today, still Quentin Davies will go on the TV and defend it saying the MOD can’t spend money it hasn’t got.
Na, more like a San Giorgio on steroids. Cavour is totally different (and much nicer to the eye). Assault ships are so boxy!
The island is very similar.
Same builder. Makes sense to recycle as much of the design as possible.
Yeah I know, just a rather obvious observation.
New LHD for Italian Navy
Looks very much like a shortened Cavour.
Looks at Page 16, what’s spanish contribution to european defense and aerospace sheme!

france is the second world defence and aerospace powerhouse, and mainly the leader in all european mains projects, expected the contreversal eurofighter, oopss!
as Snecma is the leader of the TP400 in building the core system, and taking leading managment of this project, not only 33%.
live with it,
You need to do some serious growing up you silly man.
brilliant news.
with all that extraspace on the 2009 FCS does anyone think that it was done puposufully so it could be upgraded to match the type 45 sensor and AAW suite?
The extra space on the C1 model in the photograph above is a bit on the odd side, you wouldn’t be able to add the necessary sensors to upgrade to T45 without rebuilding much of the superstructure which would make it more expensive than a T45. Personally I think the model C1 shown looks like a small ship on a big ship hull, I don’t think they’ve used the space at all well and I can’t really see anywhere to add extra weapons other than maybe some vls along the sides (which seems a little odd to say the least).
What makes you think Iraq became a better place? At least it was stable earlier. Using your own logic of positive outcome regardless of means, who cares if there was a dictator before, at least the fear of the dictator kept two factions from fighting each other and destabilizing it.
The rest is all propaganda as to how it is better now.For the sake of bringing back this thread ot its subject, would request the mod to delete all posts starting from #39.
He said eventually, in the future.
Who’s been dissing evolution here? Oh, that’s right, I’m just a lowly American. An uncouth, bible-hugging, right-winger, who doesn’t hold a candle to a sophisticated Euro like yourself. Isn’t that right? And you wonder why so many of us feel nothing but contempt for the average Euro and their world view. You earned it and continue to earn it.
There’s been a lot of nationalistic chest thumping and name calling in this thread and you’ve been as guilty as anyone.
And if it weren’t for us you’d be typing in German. :diablo: Or Russian. :diablo:
1. not a chance and you probably know it.
2. maybe
Oh really? Can that be documented?
There’s stuff on line about them, some of them are also being updated to block 1b status, there was a story about this in desider a couple of months ago.
Unfortunately the time for the MOD to stop ‘pissing about’ was probably years ago, Westland are probably going to be busy with the not big enough Wildcat order for years now.
But the RN has already retired at least 4 of its T-42’s, why haven’t their Phalanxes been installed on T-45’s already?
IMHO they should have Goalkeeper instead and reserve the Phalanxes for fitting to Amphib’s and RFA’s.
Because they got used to protect bases in Iraq and Stan.
