Seems some of the locally-upgraded Sea Cobras have gone to the Revolutionary Guards as well.

Well, the Hawk is probably not up to the quality of the Phoenix in air-to-air role, but the Iranians seem to be taking a practical attitude of “we can use it in the air-to-air role as well, so we might as well continue doing so”.

Iran has a lot of high mountains and a large skiing industry. According to UK tv, it’s more popular with the young as an opportunity to pose and socialise (and meet the opposite gender!) than actually skiing. Right outside Tehran is mount Damavand; the main ski location for the whole country.

Anyone know the status of Irans American supplied F-4s, F-14s and F-5’s (Maybe AH-1 as well)? I havent been keeping up with them in awhile. Wondering how many are still flying and recent modifactions or SLEPs. I know there were still many flying as recently as a few years ago, wondering if this has changed with the recent aquistion of Russian aircraft.

    Thanks

According to recent photo’s of wargames, they are all still flying. I just read an article in Combat Aircraft it said all the American aircraft are still flying thanks to local overhaul and servicing and locally-made spare parts. The F-14s and AH-1s have gone through many upgrades. Tomcats carry Hawk missiles and locally-made bombs.

Theres no conspiracy with the Blackhawks, base security, if you cross the line your in trouble.

I thought they might be for security. I realise it’s not a conspiracy, it’s a bit joviality. Get it?

Anyway, anyone know what the small, white planes are?

More importantly, what are those Blackhawk-type helicopters at the north of the base, by the lake shore? They don’t seem to be USAF Pavehawks.
Maybe the fabled “black helicopters” of conspiracy theories? 😀

And, what are those small, white planes, with two engines?

Anyone have a clue what this is? Tonapah etc isn’t one of my strengths. Although I did find the following google earth link ( see attached ), interesting.

    2 F-16s with support equipment.

Considering that place has a history of secret flight testing, it’s likely the F-16s are chase planes for supporting experimental aircraft. Maybe for guarding the local airspace as well.

Use imageshack or a similar server. E.g.:

Not everything that’s green is military. Not that kind of green, anyway.
My guess is that it’s a civilian airframe used for fire drills, bomb search,…

Yeah, that’s the one. Is there any way to confirm if it is a firefighting training aid?

Anyone got any photo’s of Iran’s F-14s? Combat Aircraft magazine says they are still operational and have locally-made Phoenix.

America’s F-14s are sitting in the desert at Davis Monthan AFB now.

It’s the green plane. Looks like a military aircraft.
