Very strange.Officially, the British are only occupying southern Iraq.Makes 1 wonder, what a British plane is doing halfway inside the american occupied zone! No wonder the British are saying very little about it.I saw the resistance video of it.They used some kind of multiple missile launcher.
You are probably right grey. That seems to be the motivation for the original rant. But being neither left or right, but independent;it makes no difference to me! Just another chance for a discussion.
& why not, sauron? Thats the difference today. The media don’t only give the 1 sided official version anymore. We now get to see war from the victims view & that really annoys the right doesn’t it.You can’t stand the fact that it doesn’t go all your own way.
A good ego stroker for the sour grapes neocons.Unfortunately ignoring major points.U can guess all you want about how it “would have been reported”.Conveniantly ignoring the fact that world war 2 is totally irrelevent to modern reporting,as modern reporting does NOT cover any war like it! Therefore there is nothing now to compare it to!
The main reason being the current Iraq war is the first war done only on the basis of CLAIMS of intelligence (unproved & without credible evidence). It is a war launched on a country that had NOT attacked ANYONE,had not “threatened” ANYONE & had not killed a SINGLE american then.In short,a war launched on a country that had done NOTHING & based on discredited claims, lies & fearmongering.
Therefore nothing like comparable to World war .
Thanks for the link coach! Interesting info, but the photo in my aircraft magazine shows the drone in black.Srange, must have been different versions of it!
They are important to Afghanistan. They need to build a modern state with modern security forces.Face it,they are dirt poor & need all the help they can get. They are not exactly rich enough to start buying new aircraft.
No SOC,I wasn’t refering to that A12.I meant the A12 of the 1960’s,from which the SR71 was later developed. It was designed to carry a small black UAV on top,for reconaissance, the A12 being the mothership to carry it.
Why not return the aircraft? What possible use can Pakistan have for them? After all, they are still Afghani property.Seeing as they badly need the rest of the world to help them rebuild into a modern country, returning the aircraft would be very important if Afghanistan is to have any chance of building a modern state & infrastructure.
“weather related” my ass. Most likely the resistance shot it down, but as usual when shoot downs are denied, its blamed on the “weather”.How could it be sand bringing it down? All UK & USA helicopters are fitted with sand filters for desert operations. They have to be,to even consider flying in a desert.
Makes no sense.Especially the TV news coverage of it.Anyone else notice how they say a “US Marines CH-53 Sea Stallion” crashed, yet the TV news show pictures of a grey CH-46 Sea Knight? Weird huh?
Why not name them after their characteristics, like the americans have always done? My favourite, was a name of a brave warrior “High forehead”.
Still makes me smile, when I remember that!
Thanks. This is a very usefull site!
Guidance mechanism in the nose of a missile? Or a radar in the nose of a fast jet?
Foxmoth, since when is that the Devon flag? That appears on my screen as as a black flag with a white cross! Is that what you intended? The St Pirran flag.National flag of Cornwall.Quite a few Cornish people here quite annoyed at your hijacking of the flag!
Good for you roosta! I remember my 1st flight. Its an amazing experience. The instructor let me take off! It was so quick. It was an experience flight for my birthday, like yours! It wasn’t very hard, just required concentration. However, the instructor did say I should keep learning & practising with my computer flight simulator,as that does help alot.
Get yourself a good instruction flight simulator. The experience it gives is very helpfull.
Hi foxmoth, you a Cornish man?Anyway,it must be remembered, that whatever the current level of mainstream technology, military X-planes are always decades ahead.Look at the SR71 technology, then compare it to the technology of the period it was developed from the A-12 Avenger (1960’s).
The SR71 was far ahead of its time.
And,if NASA can recently set a new speed record with a jet (publicly),just imagine what Groom Lake & the military X-planes have been capable of doing all these years!
