Possibly painted back into Luftwaffe camo? Or is it the remnants of the Spanish Air Force roundel beneath the Luftwaffe paint job?
Either way, a nice and atmospheric photo – thanks for sharing Mark 🙂

Actually the Caen flights sold out in a couple of days – the link now takes you to tickets for access to the airfield only.
The Duxford scenic flight tickets haven’t been released yet, it seems the CAA haven’t yet granted the necessary permissions.

Sally B just landed at Biggin Hill. The RAF Chinook also arrived earlier.

If you look closely the ear defenders aren’t actually in place over their ears – it is a standard all in one helmet where you pull them down into place when required. Also, given some of the work place accidents where, even in brightly lit areas, people have been hit by machinery where the operator didn’t see them, a relatively cheap hi-vi is an obvious mitigation.
Anyway, liking PT462’s new scheme and it will be interesting to see the context in which the GR4 will be displayed given the GR1 already on display.

It was indeed an excellent display by Dan Griffith in TA805 on the Sunday, including the lovely topside pass arrival from the North. Reminded me of another display by him during the Musical Tribute to the Few at Biggin Hill where he flew a similar tight display in the sky behind the stage, which was in front of the E pens on the East side of the airfield.
Jerusalem didn’t last for the whole display and I think it seemed louder on the main part of the display line, it was certainly less intrusive on the Merlin sound where I was near the Tucano’s.

Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar aircraft just finished displaying at Biggin Hill. Hurricane AE977 plus Spitfires MJ627 and TA805 with the latter carrying out the traditional solo turn to finish.

On a related note if you look at the underside of the wings on the adjacent Hurricane you can just about make out the smaller size roundel under the paint of the current one.

Signed.
There have been proposals for a museum at the airfield going back many years and when I read about this latest one in the local newspapers I had high hopes that it would finally bring it to reality. But the more I look at the details it just looks like a museum for the sake of a museum and will damage the setting of the Chapel. When you consider the amount of surviving structures from the Second World War period (and that just before it) the idea of making these intrusive modifications to the Chapel just seem like a lazy way out (and quite an expensive way out judging by the Lottery grant, although most of that is because contractors will have to be used).
From memory the West Camp is owned by Formula One Management (FOM) – given the recent change of ownership I wonder whether they would be more receptive to releasing part of the site to allow a museum to be built in one of the original buildings to complement the Chapel compound.

The film producers went to a lot of effort to create an authentic First World War troop train by hiring the Bluebell Railway’s C Class engine and a number of pre-WW2 coaches to portray the train at Victoria station. Realising that Victoria station had been rebuilt in more recent times they even substituted King’s Cross station for Victoria as it looks more as Victoria did back then. The whole assemby was moved up there and back by rail in February / March this year.
So it’s a shame that things like the dynamic modelling of aircraft doesn’t match some of those values, but it is a short clip and of course the film is sci-fi inserted into an actual period in history.
