p.s. I counted around 5 engines on that site that have returned to steam, whilst there are another 3 or so that are having work done on them. Another has been cosmetically restored.

*Dons flack jacket and tin hat, then begins placing sand bags around the computer*
It is a brave (or stupid) man that pokes a sleeping dragon :diablo:

What about Biggin Hill Battle of Britain Open Day in 2000? It was the weekend after Duxford, but they also put up a large formation of Spitfires. I will admit that I can’t remember now whether it was a single formation or several large Vic’s

Outside the fence on the main road I think…

Too true! It is also a disgrace that the listed buildings in the West Camp are slowly deteriorating because the present owner doesn’t seem to do any maintenance on them. The Fighter Pens on the east side of the airfield could also do with some attention as well as the wooden sheds hidden in the undergrowth over that side.

It has been demolished already unfortunately 🙁
I think the plan is to build a hangar on the site actually, for servicing business jets. The hotel would go up by the Control Tower.

This is spooky – the large oak tree at the back of our garden has just been blown over and crashed down on our neighbours shed.
I now DO have something better to do, which is help them clear it up in the pouring rain… 🙁 😡

Is anybody else having difficulty in trying to access the various pages with this story on? (see attached screenshot)
I’m using Firefox 2 browser if that helps.
I previously said that I thought there were more important things in life than this, but as I haven’t got anything that needs doing this afternoon I might as well see what its all about.

Dan
The fuselage aft of the cockpit looks wrong to me – too long, and flat sided.
I think the fish-eye effect of the camera lens may have something to do with it, but it is difficult to tell.

Dan
I can’t help but think there are more important things in life than trying to see if Douglas Bader was in a Liverpool hotel when he was supposed to be in Germany during 1942…

I like Squadron Leader R. Bear 😉
Nice collection of pictures there Brian 🙂

However the posting of the bollox must have come later – truly a miracle of war time surgery to make them detachable in such a way that they could be fitted later.
They used nuts
I’ll get me coat…:D
There are some things that bring tears to the eyes:
Witnessing a Spitfire close the Biggin Hill Air Fair to the sound of the last post
The pungent aroma of Rudolph when he is being readied for flight :diablo:

Whats the conversion factor from Reindeer Power to Horse Power? 😉
