Never seen a Vulcan flying in the flesh, but should imagine it makes the Lancaster sound like a Tiger Moth in comparision :diablo:
It makes the ground shake, I know that from experience! 😀
Well done to the supporters group for organising the funding, I look forward to seeing XH558 back in the air next summer 🙂

There was ‘The Iron Maiden’ that looked remarkably similar to a Victor B2 😀 :diablo:

p.s. people who have seen the film of the same name will know what I mean 😉
I think it was actually shown in two parts, our video copy is certainly only two. It was made in 1995 I think and shown during the Easter weekend, probably as a prelude to the 50th anniversary of the wars ending.
The critics panned it at the time, but I very much enjoyed it. Wish the BBC would bring it out on DVD 🙁

Dan
I saw 5 piston engine aircraft in very loose formation heading West over our house this morning (just before my driving lesson at 12:30). Possibly Yaks?

From memory there is that newly restored one in Canada and the ‘as recovered’ airframe at Hendon.
I think Cees is the expert on Halifax’s?

There probably is an element of truth in the claim, but I think that for Operation Sealion to succeed, the Luftwaffe still needed to be the dominant force during daylight hours in order to prevent a mass slaughter of the invasion barges by the Royal Navy.
I would guess that it is RAF 80% and Royal Navy 20% contribution 🙂

Wind turbines on every house to provide power at a ‘local level’.
Large wind farms and wave power generators to provide the bulk of the energy needs in this country, whilst some coal fired power stations with the latest emmissions cleaning equipment can provide extra capacity when required (or when the wind drops!).
I’m not a great fan of bio-diesel as we should be using the land to grow crops to eat, rather than to power cars…

I didn’t see many aircraft trying to land at Eastbourne…
One final thing, I wonder what became of her invisible aeroplane. Is it in a museum? Or still flying? 😀
Haven’t you heard? Its on the guest list for next years Legends… :diablo:
Why do I get the feeling I have made a new boy error? :p 😀

You must have been standing very close to 92fis when the Seafire started up 😉
Nice shots 🙂

So THAT’S why the Sea Fury wasn’t at Biggin Hill on Saturday night 😉
Nice shots there, especially of the Victor 🙂

Looks like a Lancaster that was destined for the Tiger Force in the Pacific, possibly a Lincoln. Turrets look more like a Lancaster’s though.

Dan
Watched the Lancaster and Hurricane take off from Biggin Hill around 1230, I had forgotten what a lovely sound those 4 Merlin engines make 😀
Also a pair of Tucano’s spotted around 3 ish heading towards Redhill across the Weald.
