How much would it cost to re-assemble XH558 from its present condition?

Missed them last night, but I saw them the morning before – making a hell of a racket 😀

Apart from a spitty heading south on saturday, things have been very quiet around here, very unusual summer compared to our normal stream of warbirds.

There was an event at the Eagle Heights Bird Sanctuary near Eynsford on Saturday. Local paper said a Spitfire would be displaying.

There were a few Battle of Britain veterans there signing prints of the Do17 that was shot down nearby during the battle.

A pair of Dakota’s heading for Biggin Hill this morning around 9:30. They didn’t land as far as I can tell.

Clear blue sky, the odd airliner on its way to Heathrow, a few private jets and light aircraft from Biggin Hill and occasionally the police helicopter chasing some fellon or other 😉

Maybe someone should leak a ‘famous aircraft left to rot’ story to the press usually works, especially with the 25th anniversary of the war next year.

That sounds like an excellent idea 🙂

    Western Desert Campaign theme?

Tankbuster Hurricanes (IID’s) attacking the Afrika Corps on the ground while in the air we can have a few dogfights between 109’s and Spitfires.

Cover the whole of Duxford in sand for extra realism 😮

I’m soooo impressed with your photo that I wondered if you’d mind me using ‘Duxford 180’ as my PC wallpaper??

P.S. Please arrange for it to be sunny (actually, please arrange for airfield to turn through 180 degrees so sun is behind you all day) Thanks.

Ask and thou shalt recieve… 😀

If the defence cuts go any further, they might buy it back as ‘cheaper to operate’! 😀
