I think that’s a very sound idea. I’m not keen on the “branding” of airports as it’s generally a rather tacky idea. In 50 years time George Best International is not going to have a lot of meaning to many travellers. But the RJ Mitchell terminal at Eastleigh gets my vote.
I agree, naming a terminal building after him would be more appealing than having the whole airport named after him.
If I remember correctly isn’t there a FSM Spitfire K5054 mounted on a pole in the middle of a roundabout at the airport?
