HB-HOT a genuine Ju52 arrived at White Waltham at 17:00 and is covered up for a nightstop.
Thanks for that, I must have mis-read the time! It made a lovely sound as it passed overhead through the murk.

What looked and sounded like a Junkers 52 (or Spanish built derivative) over West Wickham at around 5pm on a line from Biggin Hill towards central London.

Swordfish battling sideways in a gale with a Sea King on its tail, passed over West Wickham towards Biggin Hill around 7:20pm.

Interesting to see him in that photo in uniform (2.02), with Jack Charles on the left and just a glimpse of Al Deere on the right.
Anyone recognise any of the other faces ?
It looks like the occasion when the 1000th enemy aircraft was shot down by aircraft from the Biggin Hill Wing. Either way it is a very nice tribute by Jan Leeming.

They were on the Sky F1 coverage – was a very pleasant surprise. They also had a parachutist trailing the Stars and Stripes.
I can’t recall a heritage flypast when the Grand Prix was at Indianapolis?

Good to hear that it is still moving forward, but that bit about the RAF enclave being on the MoD disposals list is ominous.

RIP Flt Lt Egging, Red 4 🙁
The fact that the last RAFAT fatality was way back in 1971 makes it all the more shocking. My thoughts are with his family, friends and the whole Red Arrows team.

Plus it was only resprayed a year or so ago? I imagine the current paint has therefore got quite a few years life left.

I think we all know that it is because the current owners (actually it is on lease from the London Borough of Bromley) don’t want to inconvenience their ultra rich business jet customers.
I think the plan to restore the E-Pens and huts on the east side of the airfield are long overdue, but I question how easy it will be to visit them because at the moment there is no public access to that side of the airfield. You can’t even access the old South Camp any more, so it will be interesting to see how they let people visit the east side and when.
I note in one of the local papers the shopowners in the area are saying it is a bad idea because it will reduce their trade.

And me 🙂

It was a good display by the BBMF at Chartwell, followed later by the ARCo Buchon and Spitfire Mk1 AR213 doing a mock dog fight to the music from Battle of Britain.
Hopefully they will do more concerts like that at Chartwell 🙂

Pair of RN Lynx’s seen skirting around the north of Biggin Hill around 10am, I assume they were the Black Cats arriving for the Air Fair.
