I would imagine that your first year reading list will mostly comprise of books that cover the basics that will be required for aeronautics e.g. Fluid Mechanics. Besides, most University book shops or major chain stores near to universities e.g. Waterstones, tend to do student discout during the first two weeks or so of the Autumn semester.

Appears that it was Hurricane ‘BD707’ from Duxford.

My condolences to the family and friends of the pilot 🙁

Spitfire (presumably TA805, as we are just north of The Bump) doing a short display over Hayes, Kent.

Lovely distraction from thesis writing, thank you to the pilot 😀

Could the BBMF not adopt it when it gets on in life? After all the type has fought for the country and done itself proud It would make a nice formation with the Lanc Spits and Hurricane. Then it could be flown for a whole lot longer as the rest have done.

It would be nice to see that happen, but I suspect that once its ten years of flying are up I suspect that the work required to return it to the skies would be considerably more than the current set of repairs.

Typhoon taking off from Biggin Hill at 1605hrs to display at Eastbourne Airshow. Back by 1630hrs!

Two Hawks and the spare Typhoon up by the control tower and at about 1640hrs a Bf108 Taifun passed over the airfield heading south.

I wonder what they would have done if they had known a couple of Tornado’s would be landing at Biggin this afternoon :diablo:

Looks like a lot of things changed in 558’s hangar last night… I see that she’s come down off her jacks and has her nose fitted! (in white!)!!!

It is the nosecone off XM603, being used temporarily while XH558’s is repaired.

Yes, perhaps my post was a bit harsh. As a country we do have a lot of heritage structures that are an important part of our history. It is just a shame that new uses cannot be found for a lot of them.

Does anybody ever get the impression that this country couldn’t give a damn about its heritage? 🙁
