Well qn is whether they even have any firm plan to develop the same, or its just another marketing gimmick. A look at the JSF and F-22 programs shows how expensive and time consuming such endeavours to make the “next generation” warplane, can be.
Who knows?Maybe Boeing is hoping the JSF will go down faster than the titanic and this new 6th gen fighter could be their new hope of re-establishing themselves in the fighter jet market, because the SH is not going to be rolling of their production line forever. There might be a follow on order for more SH’s from Australia and perhaps the USN if the JSF is delayed much longer but after that Boeing, may have no choice but to design a new radical super fighter(super super hornet) or hang up their boots!
Even if they have bought an Ishkra, i doubt they would have a pilot capabable of beating any SLAF fighter in a dog fight. The Ishkra would more than likely be detected taking off, the same as these Zlins were and fighters sent to intercept. The aircraft though because of its speed advantage over a Zlin could maybe hit a target of significance before the SLAF could stop it and then the damage is already done!
Any news on what aircraft made the kill?Probably the Kfir?Have the MiG-29’s been delivered yet, or has there been any progress on that deal?
first pics of the HAL Light Combat Helicopter as it will look..pics courtesy of Ajai Shukla.
looks good !
If the tiger and Apache had a love child, it would look like that!still a nice looking helicopter.
I think the early jets didn’t really expand the capabilities of the latest prop fighters. A real step forward were the swept-wing subsonic and transonic fighters like MiG-15, F-86 and Hunter.
If we look at fighter capabilities, the Eurofighter is a major leap forward. The first time since the Spitfire that the RAF really possesses an air superiority fighter that is on par with all currently operational designs.
The Phantom was on a par with all other fighters when it entered service also, i mean what was its opposition MirageIII, MiG-21/23.
I remember press reports, many years ago, suggesting that China had indicated an interest in buying 300 Harriers.
If they had of bought them you could bet your house on it, that China would have a fleet of harrier carriers today, which would be quite interesting to say the least!
I wasnt thinking that ambitous an upgrade SOC but it could work!the F-5’s could be donated by the USA or Turkey or aqquired through a third party source and upgraded by the Israelis.they would be willing as they were involved with the scorpion upgrade.
Supposedly Ukraine supplied SAMS and they have large numbers of soviet era fighters in storage so wouldnt be that suprising if a few found their way to georgia, it would be the most likely source i would imagine.China would not want to supply fighters in fear of annoying the russians and the USA would be unlikely for fear of perhaps escalating the situation any further.Gripen would be too expensive to buy in sufficent numbers to fend off another air attack of this size.Perhaps some Turkish F-5’s could be bought??
Now that boeing has been given some breathing room , they should offer the 777, every bit as capable as the A330, and then maybe a boeing choice could be merited.
MiG35 will most likely win, it is the cheapest while also possibly one of the most capable of the aircraft involved in the competition and after sales support should not be a problem as was suggested by someone in this thread(not that the others will not have after sales support).
That pilatus in that link is a PC-9, not a PC-7.nice pics!would love to see more of Chadian aircraft!
sorry where are my manners?!
here is the link to the videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xrm3O20IQZE
it shows the heli at 1.59 into the video, and i just looked it is definitely a Hip!
anybody hear anything about the Chad Air Force being involved in the current fighting in the country?!there is a video on youtube showing a hip i think it is, could be a hind flying over Djamena supporting troops!
I dont think that too many strings were attached with the pilatus’ that Ireland bought, as i remember watching the minister for defence at the time Michael Smith on the news, saying the aircraft were to be bought to fulfill the training and light attack requirements! Now im sure the Swiss would have heard this comment and would have done something about it, if they didnt want them used in that fashion!
just while we are on the topic of PC-9s/pilatus aircraft here are some pics of the Irish Air Corps PC-9M’s armed!
