    RE: Defiant replica

    I wish!

But she does have a turning prop albeit v.slowly, working turret fairings and the turret itself will be operational(except firing mechanism of course).

    RE: Defiant replica

I haven’t seen a Defiant featured in a flight sim before. Which one is it ?

    RE: Defiant replica

Hi, sorry to enter this discussion a bit late.
The wreck found in the Peak District was not used in the Defiant recontruction after all. That has been set aside as a display item in its own right.
The website has pictures from the last couple of years over which the Defiant was built. It has a wooden internal structure with Alcad skins, so it has a real metal finish. The Balliol is getting the same treatment and I have just learnt that one of the Battle of Britain Film Hurricane replica, now in New Zealand, is to get new wings using a similar method.
The turret is ex-Defiant and had to be straightened out somewhat before new glazing could be made and fitted. Original wheels have also been used but other than that, the rest is new.

    RE: RNAS Yeovilton

Hi, I enjoyed Yeovilton too, despite having to wait in the cold to get in. I think it was Brian Smith in the Corsair and Pete Kynsey in the Wildcat. Very nice formation flying.

    RE: A36 Still at Duxford

Following some advice from others, I went to DX on the Friday before Legends. Good and bad weather that day but almost everything arrived for the show, plus some practice routines, including Steve Hinton in the A36 and later Stephen Gray went up in it too. I too, hope it does some more flying, perhaps for the September show. Would love to see it on the grass at Old Warden but perhaps I’m just dreaming…

RE: Boscombe Down Museum Open Day

That sounds very interesting. Do you know if the Museum has a website ?
Would also like details of how and when to get in to the “Most Secret Place”. I remember seeing a good display by the Museum during the IAT show there some years back.

    Cheers,

    RE: Flying P-40’s

    Hi,
I’m a P40 fan myself. We’re luck to have two on the UK Airshow circuit in recent years, an E and a M model.

Try the following sites for info on restored/flying P40s and history etc:

RE: Salvage Squad – 11 Feb

I started going to airshows in the mid-eighties so also missed seeing VK on the circuit. I did not catch any mention of whether it would be on the circuit this year or only out for special/private occasions. Would be nice to see it.
I believe the Cierva in Spain was one restored by the folks at the DH Mosquito Museum, London Colney.

    This is interesting information.
I’ll pass this on to the Boulton Paul Association.
    I’ve set-up a website for them at: http://mywebpage.netscape.com/markansell/bpa/
