Sorry about that, here it is

    Holidaymakers hit by 30-hour delay

More than 200 holidaymakers are flying home after a 30-hour delay.

Passengers on the Boeing 757 flight from Corfu to Manchester were forced to wait after the plane experienced problems on take-off.

A spokesman for Thomas Cook Airlines, which operates the service, said 221 passengers and seven crew members were stranded after engineers failed to fix the fault.

The holidaymakers had to wait for 30 hours while the airline flew out extra engineers and spare parts.

The plane was forced to return to Corfu shortly after taking-off because of a problem with the landing gear.

Thomas Cook spokesman Shaun Robinson said: “The landing gear being down after take-off would not affect the aircraft’s ability to depart and climb safely from the airfield but would have been burning up much more fuel due to air drag.

“The captain decided that it was best to return to Corfu where engineers could inspect the fault. At no time would passengers or aircraft have been in any danger and the captain made a safe landing a short time later.”

Passengers faced a further delay after the engineers were unable to fix the aircraft.

Holidaymakers were taken to hotels near the airport where they remained overnight.
