I am going with FRIAT (Friends of RIAT) – so have a guaranteed seat – which is elevated – so good photography opportunities.

Cost of ‘go-it-alone’ entry is 32.50 – that’s 65 quid for 2 days.

Add to that 2 x Grandstand tickets at 17.95 each – say 36 quid.

That’s about 100 quid.

If you took the FRIAT Mach 2 membership – you could do the above PLUS Park & View on Friday & Monday to see arrivals & departures – all for 140 quid.

Add that separately to the above – and the ‘go it alone’ price goes up to 118.50.

Like they say, you pays yer money – and takes yer choice.

I have now purchased tickets for saturday and sunday, with grandstand on saturday. The Mach 2 kit would have been nice but was sold out and to be honest I´m not sure I have the time and money..

I have scanned the schedules for trains from Paddington->Swindon but haven´t really found anything that arrives earlier than 9:30, which seems to be at least an hour or two to late.

Soooo, I went looking for hotels in Swindon with vacancies….no such luck yet.

Considering the fact that I´m a foreigner and would like to get to Fairford and back to my hotel with the least amount of effort and loss of time, where should I stay?

Any hotels in Swindon that not visible online (but with a roof, decent bed and something for breakfast), that I can call?

Other cities in the area that arrange shuttles to and from Fairford?
