Thanks for the comments. The details of the problem with the door on the following.
Last three from me. Anyone out on the circuit near the A1 would have witnessed some fantastic topsides views. The light was great out that way!

Thanks for the comments.
Hi Paul,
I was really amazed that there wasn’t more people down at the 22 end. I was using a 300mm prime.

So TJ, do you take suggestions for new names? It appears that you’re getting closer and closer to the fire.
I would really, really, really like the WZ-10 to be named HUBERS 🙂 Although i’d guess HUBRIS sounds similar, and might even be appropriate after me suggesting a helo named after myself…
It’s a nice idea, Arthur. :), but I’m retired now.

As stated previously, ASCC is now ASIC.
ASIC only codenames Russian and Chinese aircraft/helos. The all singing and dancing list was leaked in about 2001/2. It appeared as a part one and part two in Air Pictorial. (UK Magazine)
They only meet about once every two years to assign codenames. It really is a bit of a jolly outing as each nation involved takes turns at hosting it. All the names listed as jokes here are all correctly assigned names. FIRKIN is a unit of measure, as is FLAGON. FLATPACK was assigned by a senior RAF officer. As in ‘it looks like a bit of flatpack furniture’. So was FULLBACK and you can see the Rugby linkage with FLANKER. Imagine how hard it is to come up with names, so some simply have to be two syllables put together. Even the Russian press use the correct codenames!
XH558 scheduled for RAF Cottesmore – 14 April 08
These are the times ETA Mon 14th Apr 1530 local ETD Wed 16th Apr 1100 local
The details have been released onto the web by someone based at RAF Cottesmore. I’ve got a mate based there who has confirmed the details as of tonight.
Please bear in mind that this is the intended plan. Cottesmore obviously had to be tipped off to the intended plan. The operative word here is intended. They may decide on another of the announced NOTAM dates to get her into Cottesmore.
For anyone contemplating taking a trip to RAF Cottesmore. One of the easiest routes to the 22 end of the runway is at the following grid. Obviously assuming that 22 is in use! I passed by here today and there was no Police/Traffic cones out, so don’t shoot the messenger if you turn up and there is!
Copy and paste into Google Earth
52°44’15.41″N 0° 37’41.51″W
The coords will take you to the entrance to the field leading to the 22 end. This is part of the Viking Way and is a Public Footpath. Simply follow the sign posts and this path will take you up to the approach lights. If you carried on
this path it would take you into the village of Thisleton. There is plenty of parking space on the grass verge leading up to this Viking Way entrance. Zoom out and you’ll see the slip roads off the A1. If you are coming North bound off the A1 then don’t follow the signage for RAF Cottesmore, but turn right and take the first exit at the roundabout.
Just follow the excellent advice on the following and you shouldn’t go wrong.

The MiG-23MLD apparently from a Russian unit for static display in Finland. A U.S. citizen bought it from the Finnish company and tried to import it into the U.S.

France CDG will be available at the end of 2008 (may be) after 18-20 months of maintanance (every 5 years). The spanish PdA is completing its maintence and the italian Giuseppe Garibaldi is not in maintainance, but in active duty. The GG will go for maintainance next year when the already ready Cavour will be admitted in the fleet, so Italy will doesn’t have a breack as France, Spain, India or Uk. Uk has 2 aircraft carriers in service, but the RN has no more aircrafts.
