Surfing through the news, i came across a couple of interesting videos, which show how muddled the reporting has become, and how the the media has utterly lost its objectivity.
In an India Today live TV programme, the anchor presented some pictures as evidence of PAF F-16 shot down. When the local expert was asked, he apologetically corrected the anchor saying it was a piece of Mig-21 and that PAF F-16s used P&W engines and not GE, which was being touted as evidence for F-16 shot down.
I wonder if the anchor is still unconvinced!
My urdu/hindi is not that great, but this eyewitness on the Pakistan side states that there were 3 chutes, but at least 1 or 2 of these landed on the other side of the LoC? But then again he also claims the Indian pilot was a “Sikh”?
Could he have witnessed a drogue chute from the ejection seat and possibly the braking chute streaming from the MiG-21?
In the video at 1:54 you can see the braking chute cable and what looks like the parachute housing package but no sign of the chute. Possibly in the break up of the air frame the braking chute deployed and detached?
Indeed. And for India to get this verified would be easy- to contact the weapons’ manufacturer and find out who the customer was for the missile with that serial number.
In other related news, the identity of the PAF pilot that was downed has been revealed on social media. Can someone confirm if this is true. He is an Air Marshal’s son, so if he really did die then I’m sure it will be difficult to keep this news from surfacing.
So, it was likely a F-16B, ex-RJAF. This will also confirm the serial number seen on the part in one of the pics of the wreckage.
Also note the foliage near this crash. Quite different from the bare mountainside on which the MiG-21 Bison’s wreckage was.
No F-16 wreckage looks like that. If you watch the following video you will see the exact same wreckage. It shows the close-up of the tail and then the view from the two sides in the latter half.
That claimed “serial number” is just poor research and basically grasping at straws. Even the guy on Twitter that originally posted it realised his error, apologised and deleted his original post. Too late for that as it has taken on a life of its own!
There is an actual serial number visible on that part of the wreckage. It is on the inside of the access/inspection hatch. You can see CU-2XXX (The rest of the numbers are obscured by shadow). The serial of the shot down upgraded MiG-21 is CU-2328.
Image turned 180 and access/inspection hatch ringed in yellow.
