Saudi Tornado and Typhoons are currently in the UK for the Green Flag exercise. The Saudis have been using the Holbeach range.

    03 September 2013

    Exercise Saudi-British Green Flag

For the next two weeks RAF Coningsby will be hosting guests from the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) whilst the two air forces take part in Exercise Saudi-British Green Flag.

Saudi aircrews in Typhoon and Tornado aircraft will be flying alongside their counterparts in RAF Typhoon and Tornados during the exercise. The Typhoons are from 3 (Fighter) Squadron at Coningsby. The RAF Tornado element is from the Tornado Force based at RAF Marham; aircraft, crews and support staff from the Norfolk base have deployed to Coningsby for the duration of the event.

During the exercise aircraft will be operating within the normal flying times at Coningsby; no night flying is planned.

The Sunday People / Sunday Mirror have come up with a story of Syrian Su-24 Fencers being involved.

RAF Typhoon fighters won a mid-air showdown with two Syrian warplanes heading towards Britain’s main base in Cyprus, the Sunday People can *reveal. The dramatic confrontation came after President Bashar al-Assad’s air chiefs sent two Russian-made Sukhoi Su-24s to probe our air defences. The Syrian bombers refused to respond to repeated attempts by the control tower at the UK’s Akrotiri air base to contact them. ……

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: “The MoD can confirm that Typhoon air defence aircraft operated from RAF Akrotiri on Monday to investigate unidentified aircraft to the east of Cyprus. “The aircraft were flying legally in international airspace and no *intercept was required.”

The Russian media are still reporting early December for a Kuznetsov deployment to the Mediterranean.

    From Google translation.

The Russian aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov” winter travel to Syria, according to ITAR-TASS.

“At the end of the year, most likely in early December, the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser” Admiral Kuznetsov “project 11435 will go to the far sea campaign in which comes to a point of material technical support of the Russian Navy, stationed in the Syrian city of Tartus, “- said the defense ministry. The official said the Defense Ministry, the campaign schedule has been agreed, so the aggravated situation in the region is unlikely to be an obstacle to send aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea. He also said that the visit of the Russian aircraft carrier has nothing to do with the opposition in Syria.

Of interest is the position of the Russian Navy Tug Nikolay Chiker. She is currently positioned off the UK in a regular shelter spot. Is this pre-positioned support for the Northern Fleet Destroyer deployment to the Mediterranean or for something larger? Perhaps the carrier Kuznetsov is going to deploy early to the Mediterranean? She was scheduled to deploy by the end of this year.

Nikolay Chiker is also sending Morse Code weather back to Severomorsk. The following was sent during 12 GMT on 1st September. Positional info stripped out from the weather.

Does anyone know what ship the Russians have sent to the region to ‘mediate’?

One of the ships reported in the Russian media is the Black Sea Fleet Cruiser Moskva. She is on a scheduled return from a goodwill visit to Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. Destroyer Vice Admiral Kulakov was also part of the Moskva trip so it might be Kulakov or another Northern Fleet vessel heading for the Mediterranean?

Of note is the movement of some personnel out of Tartus naval facility in Syria. Tartus is primarily staffed by civilians anyway.

Russia To Withdraw Personnel From Syria Naval Base

MOSCOW, Aug 28 (Reuters) – Russia is preparing to withdraw personnel from its naval maintenance and supply facility on Syria’s Mediterranean coast, Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday.

If accurate, the plan would reflect safety concerns as the United States and its allies gear up for a probable strike to punish President Bashar al-Assad for an alleged gas attack his foes say killed hundreds of people.

The modestly staffed and equipped facility in the port of Tartous is Russia’s sole military base outside the former Soviet Union, serving as a foothold in Syria and helping it keep warships travelling through the Eastern Mediterranean supplied.

Citing an unnamed source in the Russian navy headquarters, Interfax reported that the facility’s personnel had boarded the repair vessel stationed there and that Russian warships would escort it out.

The report did not say when the vessel would leave Tartous or how many people were aboard. The Defence Ministry declined to comment, saying questions should be addressed to the navy. Navy officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

The reported movement of the Amur Class repair ship from Tartus ties in with the Morse Code international weather that the Amur Class PM-138 sends every day back to Sevastopol. I can pick this up here in the UK. The Russian Navy still makes extensive use of Morse Code.

It appears that the repair ship is shuttling from Tartus to a position off the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In and out since the 17th August. As of the 30th August she was back in Tartus.

Positional info stripped out of the weather broadcast. Here is one from the 27th August on 8345 Kilohertz.

Her comes the conspiracy part sorry folk’s, but just watch the following videos and read the links then make your mind up False Flag ? Please try to view them without bias as this could happen anything is possible. The scrubbed e-mail from the Daily Mail was on their web site until recently and it mentions of Obamas backing for use of chemical attacks but has now been deleted.

It is a fake. Britam was hacked but the hacker obviously did a bit of copy and paste when he/she was compiling and up to mischief.

See both links to e-mails. Everything is the same including the message ID and the time stamp. The only thing changed is the date.

The hacking of Britam Defence, a company run by former SAS chiefs with many Middle Eastern clients, is being investigated by cybercrime and counterterrorism specialists at Scotland Yard. The security services are also believed to be studying the breach.

Fine, I am still not wrong. RAF are on a fifteen minute QRA and it was a five minute QRA in the height of the cold war.

During 2009 times of 8-10 minutes were part of the text on the following link.

‘Currently, we hold a continuous ground readiness posture at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, and RAF Leuchars in Fife; this allows aircraft to take off within 8-10 minutes without pre-warning. Where there are indications that an aviation security incident might develop, bringing crews to cockpit readiness can reduce this scramble time. Aircraft are available at each base allowing us to provide good response across the country to defend against potential hostile threats.

    http://www.raf.mod.uk/currentoperations/opaukair.cfm

    The current page reads

QRA Typhoon aircraft and their pilots are ready to launch at very short notice from RAF Leuchars in Fife and RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. Where there are indications that an aviation security incident might develop, pilots will standby in the cockpit, ensuring aircraft can take off even more swiftly. This allows the RAF to respond across the country and over the seas around the UK, to defend against potential threats.

    No problem, Alan.
The organisers at Waddington were spot on with the time-slots during the air show. Top attractions such as the Swedish Historic Flight (Viggen, Tunnen, Sk-160), Vulcan etc were provided with late afternoon slots that aided photography from the crowd line.

    Alan,
This was arrivals day. It only costs £5 to park in the viewing area on base. Many people choose to park up in the base and venture outside for alternate views on arrivals. The location at park and view is south facing and problematic with the light.

It is a silly place to be. A French Air Force Mirage 2000 took the fence out a number of years ago.

Any no fly zone in Syria would need to have Russia’s approval, which is not due any time soon, not as long as the Tarsus naval base is still active.

In addition, according to this article on a cypriot daily newspaper (a version in English quoting the article here), the Russians have officially asked (and got) permission to use the Paphos air base for military operations. So… a no fly zone in Syria? Good luck with that.

Clearly you are one of the believers that think Russia is going to use military force if the US/NATO or a Coalition set up a unilateral no fly zone? Even a limited one in the North of Syria? Russia is not going to lift a finger to support Assad if push comes to shove. You have completely taken the offer of air bases in Cyprus out of context. Do you seriously think that Cyprus is going to allow Russia to mount combat operations from their territory to oppose a no fly zone? Seriously?

The use of the air base will be for an evacuation scenario where a transport hub would be established. The same goes for Cypriot port facilities. You are off into fantasy land if you think that the Cypriot Government are offering the use of these facilities for a combat scenario.

The Black Sea Fleet have been conducting numerous exercises in support of an evacuation scenario of Russian nationals in Syria.
