Pentagon disputes Tehran claim that Iranian ships docked at Syrian port
Iranian navy ships return from Syria through Suez
CAIRO | Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:47am EST
(Reuters) – Two Iranian naval ships returned from Syria through the Suez Canal Tuesday, a Suez Canal source said. The ships entered the canal from the Mediterranean Sea early in the morning, heading south toward the Red Sea, and were expected to leave the canal Tuesday afternoon, the source said.
The ships had docked at the Syrian port of Tartous, in a show of support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a regional ally of Iran.

How do you know what Russians are going to do next?. certainly no one expected Veto. All they have said they are going to do very large exercises. and no one knows what paths this exercises will take. Israel cannot attack iran without Russia permission. France/US/US has given face saving measure to back down. Your putting ur own assumptions.
Today front page news with PAK-FA picture in the most crtical country.
http://arabnews.com/
so Arab opinion will depend on scale and success of exercises.
Isn’t that what you are doing yourself, making your own assumptions? Where are you getting this illusion from that Israel requires Russian permission? Do you think Israel asked permission to conduct an air strike on a suspected Syrian nuclear site?
You are the one making this assumption that somehow Russia is going to protect Iran and establish a no-fly zone. That is pure armchair warrior speculation. Speculation based on a bizarre personal theory that Russia is somehow controlling the Arab world with its military via exercises. The Russian exercises are not going to influence anyone.
That was Indian ocean exercise so they chose the shortest route. More like money saving for small exercises. There is no where written they went towards Oman.
but this time it is to demonstrate to Arab world and Israel very different level of military capability. I think they will use more Medit sea and Persian Gulf. 120 bombers can theoretically lunch 2400 cruise missiles in 24hr period. I dont think Israel can lunch attack on Iran without Russia permission. as Russia can impose no fly zone there. The size and scope of exercises will entirely depend on arab world behavior.
I was talking about them going past Oman as they transited south. You are reading far too much into Russian military exercises. Russia is certainly not going to step in and assist Iran in a military capacity. Israel certainly does not require Russian permission to launch a strike on Iran.
The Russians can only get strategic bombers into the Mediterranean if they used the Gibraltar Strait route. Certainly possible, but somehow I don’t see it happening. They would have to seek overflight permission for any other access point and I don’t see NATO members assisting in that capacity? The only alternative to get strategic bombers into the Mediterranean would be overflight permission of Iraqi airspace from Iran and then into Syria.
IMHO, the Arab nations don’t give a monkeys how large the Russians exercises are. Russian military exercises are not going to change Arab world thinking in regards to events in Syria.
But anyway I also heard the Army recieved Kornet-E and Metis-M anti-tank weapon systems but I don’t believe it because they never shown us it. The other day I saw youtube videos of Syrian rebel forces firing them on tanks. I just think there a few things these people have to yet to disclose to the public and for good reason.
The evidence of Syrian Kornet E turned up during 2006 in Lebanon. Despite the Russians initial denials it was the export box markings that caught them out. Russia is a full signatory to the UN Conventional Arms Register and exporters tidied up their act some time ago. The Russian exporters had fully complied with the markings laid out in the register. The Kornets were obviously originally delivered to Syria, but whoever handed over the Kornets to Hizbollah goofed by not sanitizing the export box markings.

I dont think Arab countries have seen Tu-160/TU-95 flying towards them.
Oman did during 2003. The Russian filed flight plans for the mission into the Arabian Sea / Indian Ocean via Iran. In the end they snubbed Iran and sought permission to get the bombers and tankers through Afghanistan and Pakistan. This was granted and they went on to exercise in Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. They returned the same route with permission.
May 2003: Indian Ocean Maneuvers
http://www.nti.org/analysis/articles/russias-nuclear-doctrine/
The “air” component of the exercises included four Tu-160 and nine Tu-95MS heavy bombers, twelve Tu-22M3 medium bombers, and four “flying tankers” Il-78. Two Tu-160 and four Tu-95MS heavy bombers flew to the Arabian Sea and after a five-hour flight, Tu-95MS bombers launched cruise missiles against naval targets from a distance of 3,000 km; Russian ships in the area provided targeting information and in-flight trajectory correction. The missiles that were launched were nuclear-capable Kh-55.
According to Chief of the Air Force Vladimir Mikhailov, en route to the Indian ocean, Russian heavy bombers crossed the territories of “two CIS countries”, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Other long-range bombers held practice bombing at test ranges inside Russia. In the Pacific ocean, four Tu-22M3 medium bombers (two belonging to the Air Force and two to the Navy) launched four Kh-22M anti-ship short-range missiles against simulated naval targets (probably carrier groups).

So here we are with Only Russian Aircraft carrier stopping by Syria to show support. Is it still there??
There are currently no Russian warships in Syria. Only some of the Russian Navy Task Force went to Syria. That included the Admiral Kuznetsov which stayed for a brief visit. The Kuznetsov and the rest of task force are all back in their respective home ports.

The only Russian Navy vessel that was in Syrian waters recently was the Tanker Ivan Bubnov. Even the PM-56 Amur Class Repair ship has left Tartus and gone back to the Black Sea. I tracked that all the way back in Morse Code earlier this month. The Black Sea Fleet Tanker Ivan Bubnov refuelled the Task Force before they left the Mediterranean. Ivan Bubnov then transited to Syria. In the past few days it has moved from Tartus, Syria to a position off Cyprus.
I’ve been following Ivan Bubnov as she transmits weather and sea state reports on a regular basis in Morse Code.

Two Iranian Navy vessels are, according to Iranian Press TV, currently in Syria.
There is confusion in the media at the moment of the identity of the Iranian warship. Previously the Kharg and an Iranian corvette had made a port visit to Saudi Arabia. The Iranians also have vessels deployed as part of the anti-piracy campaign off the Horn of Africa / Gulf of Aden.
http://www.uskowioniran.com/2012/02/iran-navy-18th-task-force-transits-suez.html
The Kharg also visited Syria with the Frigate Alvand during 2011.
Well it could be that the Navy wanted to keep USS Enterprise for a few years more, by sending USS Enterprise and spending money on it and ‘missing’ the retiring date.
However there will be a false flag, be it Enterprise or whatever other reason they find.
Nic
Sure there will be! Have you joined Above Top Secret forum? Sound to me like you are already a member! 🙂
USS Abraham Lincoln just waiting for that ‘false flag’
Video at following
Iran is going to attack some US carrier soon, so it’s going to be war. Surprisingly the USS enterprise, on its last tour, and which is to be decommissionned soon is sailing near Iran, and we all know it will cost an arm & a leg to decommission because it carries 7 nuclear reactors. How convenient would it be that Iran attacks it to start the war that some in the US really really want?
You read it here first that a fake attack (a real attack but not launched by Iran) is going to sink USS enterprise.
Nic

A lot of people are still unaware of the low-level phase of the campaign and what nations were involved. Even B-52s came back with combat damage after low level missions.

The Iraqi’s also used French Roland SAMs. They also had MANPADS and layered AAA defending those airfields and fixed sites.
The Iraqi’s also employed fighter aircraft in defence during the initial stages and they had one success. One F/A-18 Hornet loss is attributed to an Iraqi MiG-25 Foxbat.

Even the F-117s employed were expected to take losses during the conflict.

It was no picnic for those sent to do those missions. A large proportion of the approx 70 A-10s suffering damage were due to enemy action.
Approx 70 A-10 aircraft suffered some type of battle damage during Desert Storm. Many of the damages were undocumented cases of relatively minor problems. Some were even caused by their own aircraft such as a bomb lanyard slapping a wing flap, or a bomb fragment flying up and embedding into it’s engine cowling. But most was caused by small arm fire and surface to air missiles.

Russian Navy to carry out exercise in Mediterranean
A division of Russian Navy ships, headed by The Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft-carrier of the Northern Fleet, has come to an agreement with the Greek military about exercises in the Mediterranean Sea.
The exercises are to begin on the 6th of January, a spokesman for the Greek Central Headquarters reports.
According to the Greek military, the Russian division has not arrived at the site yet. The Russian ships set out on a trip on the 6th of December and carried out several exercises of on-board aircraft. Apart from The Admiral Kuznetsov, other ships of the
Northern, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets are taking part in the trip.
