Nvm i calculated it, if kuznetcov was going 20 knots it will take it 11 days on voyage to make it to syria (if nothing breaks or they dont stop anywhere)
Possibly they will take their time? 2011/12 deployment saw them in the Moray Firth, off Scotland and exercising near to the oil rigs. Possibly they will take the English Channel route for the propaganda effect? The Baltic Fleet tanker Lena has already deployed down to the Azores region. She deployed chirping away in Morse Code sending back regular weather reports until off the Azores. Possibly an exercise in the Atlantic before entering the Mediterranean?
The support tug Nikolay Chiker was noted on AIS off Norway during 15 GMT.

New Strike Drone YAk-133 shown in photos?????.
Not sure if its the actual drone shown in photo or USA drone as image. But news has been coming out that it has flown.
Interesting article.
The image is a Dassault Neuron.
Jurgen Todenhofer is a respected journalist and your attempt to discount his credentials is risible.
Was Todenhofer played?
Activists are circulating images and information revealing the identity of the person whom the German journalist Jurgen Todenhofer presented as “a leader in al-Nusra.” Activists confirm that the person who Todenhofer introduced as Abu al-Ezz is actually one of the biggest regime thugs in Aleppo’s southern countryside. His real name is Ahmad Sheikh al-Daat and he is also known by the name Ahmad al-Ezo.

See the detailed article where they link up the quarry in the beginning and end of the footage to territory controlled by Syrian forces.
The quarry that was filmed during his approach is under the control of Assad’s troops. The fact that the Syrian president’s troops and those of his allies are particularly active in the area was confirmed by a mid-August Russian television report. In the report, Assad troops can be seen, along with tanks firing their weapons, and pro-government forces have made additional advances since then. The quarry is very clearly under regime control. And in the background of Todenhöfer’s video, one can again see the extremely unique collection of two towers and high buildings that are clearly identifiable on Google Earth.
Some excellent work by internet sleuther on the exact location of the quarry.
They assume it headed back to Russia or came from Russia. But they actually have nothing based upon that but relied upon proclamations. They figure it went back to Lhugansk and that is that.
No doubt you will also hand wave away the audio intercepts surrounding the crossing of the Russian border? No doubt you will be claiming that those are fake too? Remember that the JIT report doesn’t reveal all the evidence that they have. The JIT claim to have drawn up a list of around 100 individuals whom it believes were involved or had knowledge of the Buk operation.
Now I know that Bellincat links are going to annoy you but specific Russian Buk units and a Buk convoy messed up on social media. All that info was hoovered up from social media and passed to JIT. Now if amateur internet sleuths can compile such info then just imagine what a professional intelligence team can do with it? I bet Russian security and intelligence had a massive purge and clamp down on military use of social media after the opsec blunders.
Bellingcat has spent the last year investigating the 53rd Brigade. With over 200 soldiers’ social media profiles identified, it was possible to confirm the identity and roles of many members of the 53rd Brigade and their involvement in the June convoy that transported Buk 3×2. Due to the sensitivity of much of this information, Bellingcat is currently only sharing the majority of the research with the Joint Investigation Team.

The identities of all of these soldiers have been anonymized in this public version of the report, with their names changed and faces blurred, though an uncensored version with their true identities has been provided to the Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

I know, I know all the audio intercept to you will have been faked.
Call for witnesses and the identity of the participants of the wiretaps.
The audio take they used provided by Ukraine authorities (lol) was proven fake last year:
No it hasn’t. It had to be “proven fake” in an attempt to make it go away. It had to be discredited in any way shape or form. It is just like the “Buk on the truck” video that had to be discredited at all costs. Remember what the Russian Ministry of Defence stated about that particular video? In an effort to make it go away they claimed the following in the media presentation.
The good example of such fact is that some mass media showed transportation of the Buk-M1 missile system from Ukrainian to Russian territory. We can clearly see that its frame-up. These pictures were made in the city of Krasnoarmeisk that is confirmed by a banner situated close to the road. This banner has an address of the car shop situated at the Dnepropetrovskaya, 34. Since May 11 the Krasnoarmeysk city is under control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Not only is that brief still on the web but the English transcript is on the Russian Embassy website in the UK. It is just embarrassing!

See following link for details of the actual filming location in Luhansk.
b) Ukrainian ATC for diverting it over an active air defence zone at the last minute;
As already pointed out by Mercurius it was the crew of MH17 that requested the change of course due to weather.
The flight plan was for 33,000 feet until the waypoint PEKIT then climb to 35,000 feet. It was the crew of MH17 themselves that requested to maintain flight level 33,000 feet.
At 12.53 hrs MH17 was asked if it could climb to flight level 350 in accordance with the filed flight plan, but they replied that they were unable to comply and requested to maintain at flight level 330. This change of plan was agreed, and other aircraft in the area were told to climb to flight level 350 to avoid a potential separation conflict with MH17.
The crew of MH17 asked to divert the flight path by 20 nautical miles due to bad weather they could see on their route. MH17 then asked if flight level 340 was available. They were told that it was not available due to the other civilian aircraft being assigned heights in order to deconflict with MH17. That is why MH17 continued on its altitude of 33,000 feet.
The Russians agreed with the MH17 flight path in the preliminary MH17 report.
See page 11 of 34 2.1 History of the flight.
From what I have read, Buk consists of a Command Post vehicle, Surveillance Radar and TEL or TELAR vehicle. Can the whole system be transported on a single truck? Or is there a possibility to only use some of those to achieve a firing solution?
The TELAR can operate autonomously.
Thanks for that TEEJ…..do we have confirmation of the make-up of the actual strike package because it appears to have changed over time?
Some contend that was to deflect the heat off the Americans, but I’ll wait for the official investigation to conclude which I suppose isn’t likely to be anytime soon?
I thought it was the two USAF A-10s, two F-16s (take your pick from NATO partners) and a UK Reaper (which would have had a bird’s eye view)?
No problem, Tony. The Danes have already admitted to their F-16s taking part.
Defence comments after attack in Syria
18-09-2016 – kl. 23:05
The Joint Services Defence CommandThe international coalition against ISIL conducted September 17, 2016 a series of attacks on a suspected ISIL position in the region of Dayr Az Zawr in Syria.
Two Danish F-16s took part together with other nations’ aircraft in these attacks. The attack was stopped immediately, since the Russians came reports that a Syrian military position had been hit.
It is obviously regrettable if the coalition has mistakenly hit nothing but
ISIL forces. The coalition is launching an investigation into the attack. The defense will fully cooperate with the coalition about the investigation.
Joint Services Defence Command has no further comments at this time.
Google translated from Danish Defence website.
Technically it could.. But the L-39s, too, can’t fight at night.. Usually no one sends an Albatros on a night time mission..
Usually, but what if it was imperative that air assets were brought into that area? The reports are that there was a rebel offensive. See that video that I have already posted “Syrian Air Force Night Airstrike on Darayya 16-09-2015”. What if the Syrian Commander called on all available air assets to re-target the burning area?
Good post.
The Syrians and Russians have never attacked an aid convoy before….so why this one?
Have the Russian or Syrians ever admitted to a targeting error? The reports at the time was that there was a rebel offensive in the area where the convoy/compound is. To halt that offensive why can’t you see a Syrian commander calling for airstrikes to protect his ground forces? This claim that the Syrians can’t conduct airstrikes at night is simply not the case. Here is footage from Syria during September 2015. The footage was from before the Russians commenced airstrikes. You can hear the helicopter.
Syrian Air Force Night Airstrike on Darayya 16-09-2015
The aim is to stop the offensive and the convoy is simply collateral damage. Once it is realized that the convoy/compound has been struck do you honestly believe that the Syrians are going to admit to such an accident? Do you honestly believe that the Russians are going to embarrass Assad by coming clean and revealing that it was collateral damage while attempting to stop the offensive? The Russian Commander in Syria knows exactly what took place but his hands are tied. Do you honestly think that he is going to report back to Moscow that it was accident while halting the offensive? There is no other option but to deny and blame/hint at other forces.
TEEJ, anything to say about the E-7A Wedgetail AWAC that flew in support of the US bombing of the Syrian positions…..would it not have situational awareness and known that the the Syrian positions were being bombed?
Has it been confirmed that there was an RAAF E-7A Wedgetail? In my earlier reply to you I only put that in as a possible along with the KC-30A tanker as there didn’t appear to be any RAAF Super Hornet involvement in actually dropping ordnance.
Australian aircraft were involved in a US-led coalition operation which killed dozens of Syrian soldiers who were apparently mistaken for Islamic State fighters, the Defence Department has confirmed.
“Australian aircraft were among a number of international aircraft taking part in this Coalition operation,” the Defence Department said in a statement.
“Australia would never intentionally target a known Syrian military unit or actively support Daesh (IS). Defence offers its condolences to the families of any Syrian personnel killed or wounded in this incident.”
The Russian military earlier said two F-16s and two A-10 jets that flew into Syrian airspace from neighbouring Iraq carried out the actual attack. Neither type is listed as being in operation with the RAAF.
It appears that the RAAF involvement was purely in a support role. It could have just been KC-30 tanker support or the Super Hornets flying top cover.
Su-24M and cannon fire at night, a weird and unlikely combination.. that was a slow mover, IMHO..
Could it possibly be an L-39 with the gun pod?
Syrian L-39 gun strafe.
 huh? I guess I do not understand now..
Sadly it is the the classic. The Russian Ministry of Defence announces that they tracked a US Predator. They let it hang and an internet warrior fills in the blanks with his “analysis”. It is how it works and they know it. The merry go round then has the Predator launching the Hellfire. See comments.
The recent video that I posted will no doubt turn into A-10s or other Coalition jets. Will Russia Today touch it? It will be interesting to see what they do as the Russian MoD only mentioned a Predator.
Interesting.. I cannot hear any helicopters, how did they come to an idea there were any?
Quite distinctive howling sound at 0:29.. a subsonic jet?
It all depends how long the attack actually went on for. The person filming might have started recording after the strikes had begun. Media were reporting that the strikes in the region were being conducted for up to two hours.
That howling at 0:29 sound like something heavy (large truck) going full pelt down the highway. There is a main road south of the compound.
