David,
Maybe I didnβt word my last posting very well, I think the flying was irresponsible, equally the TV or film Co must have asked for the flying to be that way & that was irresponsible too. A forum for me is an area to discuss items not to just have items of no consequence posted, what is wrong with discussing the Firefly crash? It is by discussing & getting other peoples views that most accident investigations work their craft. Over the years I have sat on several air accident investigations both civil & military in the UK & Europe & the least little thing has been taken into account, by listening to eye witness accounts you learn a lot especially if you are not at the site where the incident took place. Hope that clears up a few points! Cheers.
Ant, no offence taken.
Having just viewed the clip It is a seriously irresponsible bit of flying & I don’t care WHO was in the seat! If you want to add fuel to the anti-brigade this is it with bells & whistles, at that altitude you cannot see much ahead in level flight (having sat in a Mk9 in the rigging position you can see nothing forward past the spinner for some wayahead) how no one was injured was a miracle! No wonder it was removed from the thread.
I also feel that to post a short cut to the offending item Is also irresponsible & just about as daft!
For what it’s worth I reckon the Yak11 is a cracking bit of kit, best of all, It’s got a ’round’ engine!
Cheers

We have to remember our position of ‘enthusiastic amateur’ and leave the investigation to those most capable of coming to the correct conclusion.
With the greatest of respect, You may have a position as an ‘enthusiastic amateur’ however my position is as an ‘enthusiastic professional ‘ I have over 20 (paid to be there) years with Airshow aircraft & Airshows and over that length of time you get to know when things are right & when things are marginal! I have said before on this forum that unless you personally know who is posting, you never can tell who is who, or what they do, so I think a little mutual respect is called for here rather than just discarding postings out of hand, it is not just ‘Amateurs’ who post here, maybe if people read what is written & not what they want to read then everyone may learn something about aviation & old aeroplanes. It seems sometimes that there are some very narrow minded postings like– I only like XYZ type of aircraft & hate all others, what is that all about? most of us left that back in Infants school! Tolerance is a fine quality that is sadly disappearing in this day & age, we have (or should have) a common bond here, Aviation, lets keep it a bond rather than a lot of individuals.
And, by the way,Some of us DO know what we are talking about. π
I am at a loss to understand why so many are refraining from any comments regarding the incident. Surely that is what the forum is all about or am I missing something here?

Very poor taste, armchair expert
It’s very difficult to know who does what within aviation on here sometimes but just now & again someone who knows drops in & then back out again, smiling about the ‘so called expert enthusiast’
of course, you know who you are! π
Right, I’ll get me two penny worth in & retire to a safe distance!
First of all, did I get it right? are they knocking down the new hangar to build the mega super hangar????? If they are who thought that little idea up?
Secondly, The best idea for giving access to the inside of an airframe would be to lower it to the ground into a trench then with it well supported from below, even to the extent of flooding the trench with something that will dry hard, section it in half so anyone, disabled or not can see inside the aircraft with ease, by doing that It would allow two groups to benefit from one aircraft, why they have to be outside still on their U/C is beyond me. It is one of the most difficult things to get into & out of if there is an accident with a visitor.
I personally believe that no group or museum etc should be able to obtain complete aircraft to exhibit unless they can show the donator/owner that they have the means to keep the exhibit in good order, & that doesnβt mean every few years going out with some paint & a yard broom to paint over the problem.
If you want to see how museum exhibits should be displayed go to the Museum at Sinsheim, Germany, that is chock full of well looked after exhibits! The have also just received one of Air Frances Concordeβs that will look good next to their Concordski !
