The two yellow Harvards belong to The Royal Nederlands Air Force Historical Flight & are from Gilze-Rijen & the red n’ silver Harvard belongs to Karel Bosch (excuse the spelling) He owns Historic Flying & Bosel Exhausts.

Both aircraft have come under the scrap man, however, I understand that the engines from the Varsity have been saved.

Whats the point of aerobatting warbirds!???

I’ve been saying that for ages! Display the Aircraft, NOT the pilot. If you want to show off get an Extra, Pitts or something like that.
Warbirds were fighters, use speed, big open manoeuvres for dogfights & attacks Show the shape of the aircraft etc (with grace & poise!)

The name says it all, WARBIRD If it fought in a conflict, it’s a Warbird, end of story,

Unless of coarse you mean me, WarbirdUK, then it’s only a Warbird if it’s overweight, with a large ‘tash’ & a fear of flying!

coanda, Send me a PM with a phone number if you are by Filton, could be worth your while!
Miss Helen is nicely tucked up in our warm hangar at Filton together with the Mk8 & 19 Spitfires & other bits n’ bobs.
45 min flight from NW to Filton & a smooth arrival! Nice one PJ.

Come on Guys, ‘either put up or shut up’ All this ‘I know more than you do’ is all a bit junior school’ish don’t you think.
I think the G-INFO site updates when the permit or C of A is re-newed or when there is a change of ownership. Please don’t turn this into an ‘us & them’ situation, it’s not very friendly!! Be nice to others!

    Hi Ewan,
It’s also going to be down to cost as well, with insurances going through the roof, this year is going to be interesting to see who flies what & where! OW will only be able to buy In what they can afford. It would make logistic sense to share as many ‘acts’ with another show as this would help to cut costs.
BTW, Warbird air display liability insurance has just about doubled for 2004.
    Cheers………….

    Hi Airbedane,

Just thought I’d throw my three penny worth in,
Unfortunately I have visited OW just the one time as a guest, but what struck me was the fantastic ‘Garden party’ atmosphere which was a pleasant change from the ‘gung ho’ atmosphere of many other air displays around. Badminton Air day had the same type of atmosphere & is sadly missed!

One thing I have against most air displays both here & abroad is the commentary, Why do these guys have to go on & on like their life depends on it? A little info enhances the display, In jokes & rivet counting is boring to most of the attendees & gets in the way of a great sounding engine and can detract from the display.

I remember one year at the RNLAF open day standing next to the commentators post & asking him to shut up while our Spitfire was displaying! He understood!
    Cheers………

I must try harder to make it to OW this year!!

What’s that all about?? Nothing to do with power, unless you want to turn the aircraft into a mole! The Spitfire could have extended the loop on the climb up to the top of the loop, where do you go once you have passed the vertical coming down ? power will make no difference to the loop at that point, only the velocity you hit the ground at!

Just a quickie, Stainless exhaust stubs don’t last as long as the steel ones.
