It reached the news on danish TV today:

I don´t know much about preservation of aircraft taken out of salty waters, but still I was surprised to see the part already dry and worked at with what seemed to be very crude tools – hammers and so on.
The footage on the main news channel tonight was different from this short clip.
It may not mean much in reality, but they said they wanted to make the plane into a “complete but static exhibit”.

Thanks – I can see now that it is a Curtiss. Just looked so short…
Jon
Thanks for sharing!
On the german boneyard – there is a shortish A/C in the middle of the shot, seemingly with overpainted roundels.
What is it?
Jon
First thought when I saw the Comet cockpit – “Wow, this must have been really expensive to make”.
Great photography!

Those engines sounds far better than I´d expected! And its speed seems more realistic too.
What a gang of people – doing what they dream about, not just talk about it!
Jon
Fascinating, so much the eyes of knowing people can get out of a photo….to many, this would simply have been a photo of a scrayard….
Since G-ARFY crashed on 8.8.64, then the photo must have been taken at a date later than that, that is, in the winter of 1964-65 (the bare trees indicate that the shot was taken in the winter). Presuming, of course, that it is G-ARFY lurking in the picture!
You must mean BEFORE 8.8.64 – the Piper doesn´t look crashed to me?

The text says “84% scale replica”.
Looks promising.

Nice pitures, and what a holiday it must have been. Thanks for sharing them!
I have had a 1955 Matchless G80CS – the scrambler version of the AMC 500 single with alu cylinder and mudguards. Fun bike. I wouldn´t have planned a euro-trip on that one, though.
Jon
Rot?
From what?
I´d imagine rubber articles would have at hard time in the desert, but the airframe?
Jon
No wonder the pilot wouldn´t take up the fight versus ein staffel Messerschmitts in that little beauty….
Jon
Then there are these T-33´s, still visible under takeoff and landing:

There is a Ju 52 off the coast of Chania. All the local skippers know it and you can swim down to it (its in about 6m). Made my trip!
That must be the one I was thinking about. I am sure someone in Chania mentioned it as an 88, but that must have been to heighten the exitement.
Didn´t go there as I was there in winter….

I am quite sure there also is a wreck of an Ju 88 that is visible from one of the boats with a glazed bottom. Couldn´t find a link now.

Gods teeth, that thing is Fugly! Did the french design any good looking aircraft….. ever? That thing would look at home on a Skegness caravan park…
I can´t fault the lines of a Mirage lll….or a Super Mystere….or a Fouga Magister……or a Potez 630…..or a SPAD…..or a Bugatti Model 100…or a…..nevermind!
Only joking, I know the only really beautiful planes are the good old British Spitfire, Mosquito, Meteor, and of course the Gannet, the Vickers Vernon, the Blackburn Skua. Amongst several.

For Facebook users….only!
I was sad to discover you have put all videos and pictures on Facebook – I can´t see them as I am not a Facebook user (and never will be!)
Could you change that?
