It would be great to see photos of the Canadian built Anson MK5 in Cuban markings (CU-N370) parked beside CF-GMZ. Googled it without success!

    RCAF Fortress

    James:

See if you can source a long out of print book “Canada’s Wings 2: The Liberator and Fortress” by Carl Vincent. Published (1976) by Canada’s Wings-Stittsville, Ontario. ISBN 0-920002-01-3.

There is a complete chapter on 168 (HT) Sqn. and their aircraft. Numerous pictures of the Fortresses at various stages in their “career” . Also included is a side view drawing of 9204 showing how the American markings were painted over and colour details.

You might to want change the picture of the Avenger on your site. I would say you have a Dauntless or an A-24 pictured there.

    T-6?

    Gents:

Nice video, but, I’m guessing that’s a Harvard II, not a T-6. Note the lengthened exhaust and the extra canopy frame at the rear of the canopy enclosure.

    Hampden In Colour

    James:

I don’t think that the terrain surrounding the airfield is quite “mountainess” enough to be B.C.. Having spent a considerable amount of time in Aylmer over the years, I would suspect that the video was taken there. Typical flat southwestern Ontario farmland with trees bordering the field. Outside of those two areas, I can’t recall reading about Hampdens in any other area of the country. I think the Hampdens were used to train airframe mechanics at Aylmer and St Thomas (located about 10 kms west of Aylmer). I also can’t recall any base in B.C. that housed Harvards as shown in the video.

Nice piece of video tho. Shame there was’nt more of that segment.

    Hampden

    Gents:

This has the look of being taken in Canada. I know there were Hampdens stored at 14 SFTS at Aylmer Ontario. The lic plate on the veh entering the gates looks decidedly Canadian, the all yellow Harvards and the general look of the airfield boundaries would suggest Canada.

    Just a thought for discussion

I have known Rob for quite a few years and he is a decent, honourable and honest man. This is a serious attempt by a relative to regain some of his past and I think we should do everything we can to support him in his quest. Any suggestions, help, ideas would be most appreciated by Rob and his relatives. Websites? Organizations? etc etc
