I’m perplexed…what’s this about???
Sorry,Steve.Didn’t think about non-UK forum members probably not knowing that the AA is a British motoring organisation who ,amongst other services,
will come out and jump start your car if you’ve got a flat battery.(They also
used to use yellow vans). I must start thinking internationally.
Regards,Colin.
Sleap Provost.
Hi Chippie and all, there is a dismantled Provost at Sleap, it needs buying before its too late.
Andy
Just spoken to owner who tells me it is due to move to another site shortly
for restoration. So will be getting the attention it needs and a roof over it’s
head in the near future, and is not for sale.
Anyone care to estimate the glide ratio ?
While I respect & even applaud the reasoning for displaying historic aircraft in their military colours , I do like to see a few in schemes designed to accentuate the beautiful
lines of the aeroplane rather than in camouflage designed to break up the outline of the
weapon. (Particularly having seen the Spitfire photos on this thread !)
Was this one , or something like it , in “Airplane” ?
>We must get this man to hospital !
-Why,what is it?
>It’s a big building full of beds and doctors.

The Eagle And The Hawk-John Denver
His love of flying really showed through in this one.

I recall ,many years ago, taking my very young daughter to an airshow.
“What’s that ?”,I asked,pointing skyward.
“Hawker Hooligan !”,came the reply.

Suggest taking a look here, its quite a story regarding names & manufacturers.
It also says it is the only certified tri gear aircraft that comes within the new
American sport pilot regulations and that makes me wonder if there may soon be
another manufacturer to add to the list.
Nashio.
The point you’re missing is that a better result could have been achieved at less cost. All the aircraft would have been under cover with no need for hanging aircraft. Of course it’s good that they are inside. Just in the wrong type of building.
I seem to remember it was also stated that any construction should be in keeping with the area. I see nothing in keeping with that monstrosity for miles around.
An opportunity badly missed and we are left with something that is irreversible.

Can’t disagree with that . Also looks like a great vortex generator to put near a runway!
Boulton & Paul supplied all sorts of prefabricated buildings to the far flung corners of the empire. Those small corrugated steel churches on Caribbean islands for example. Can’t be many companies with flatpack churches on their product list! Also there’s a Boulton & Paul fridge at the BPA heritage centre.
PS. Got a Westland garage door on our house.Would that be “the” Westland?
It’s a Merlin 35 from a either a Balliol or Sea Balliol definitely.
Haven’t worked which yet.
If you go to http://www.boultonpaul.com and click on contacts you will find contact details for
Les Whitehouse,BP Association archivist. I’m sure he could help.
Regards,Balliol.
If anyone complains about airshow pollution ask them to think about the thousands of vehicles converging on football grounds on a weekly basis. A quick calculation should show that aviation is far less polluting than football.
