    Eleven.

Edit: Acutally Ten, but the leather/goth look would take it to eleven, because it’s one better than ten (in a kind of Spinal Tap way…)

Bill Lyon’s Challenger II can be downloaded for free from AVSIM.com (cc11qc2f.zip) This awesome package include a full selection of variants and was originally payware. You’ll probably find other ultralight/microlights on AVSIM and the other freeware file libraries.

Also Lago do an Ultralights package, an upgraded FS2002 package which in my opinion is showing it’s age now. It can be purchased from Simmarket here I believe you may also find other ultralight paywarre models on simmarket although I can’t comment on the quality as I don’t own any of them.

    Hope This Helps !

I may be wrong but I don’t remember the Buchons in the movie having the 109E style ‘struts’ under the tail. The air to air shots on that page are as I remember them in the film (no struts) yet the Buchon with the yellow spinner seems to have them..

Just an observation, but I wonder if anyone can explain why ?

Also while I’m posting on the subject does anyone have a link to any pictures of the two seat Buchon that I believe was used in the filming ?

The other fast jet option worth considering is LOMAC (LockOn-Modern Air Combat) which can be fouind for under a tenner if you shop around.

Can you tell I’m fond of a bargain ?

The best combat sims imho are the IL2 series – skip the original and pick up IL2-Forgotten Battles for about a fiver on a ‘budget’ label. You can then ‘add on’ the Aces Expansion pack and Pacific Fighters as and when time/budget allows.

All is not lost – if you like WW1 aircraft and really must insist on playing CFS3 try it with this : http://off.oldbrowndog.net/downloads.htm

Upgrading your graphics card will have no notceable effect on what you see, but it may make what you see move more fluidly.

The key to changing the graphics in FS is the display settings. Take some time to to experiment with changing one at a time. The higher the settings are, the more workload is put on your system so although you might see improvements such as denser tree/building population (the autogen setting for example) the ‘performance’ of your sim will suffer. As you increase the complexity of the graphics you may notice your sim slow down and ‘stutter’. The key is to make a compromise between having the settings as high as you like and getting a fluid performance from you sim. It’s a matter of personal preference at the end of the day.

Of course if you find the perforance is not acceptable you can upgrade. In your original post you don’t specify how much RAM your system has (which in FS is equally important as processor speed and graphics card) upgrading RAM is often far cheaper than replacing a graphics card or processor, I would reccomend at least 1Gb (1024Mb) in total to get the most out of FS9

    I hope this helps.

Edit : It’s just occured to me if there is anything in partcular you want to improve why not post an example screenshot ?

Seems that if you take the time to look at the video settings, things improve no end…….I’ll get my coat……

Don’t worry about it – I guess the wide variety of hardware configurations mean that the default FS2002 settings wont work perfectly for everyone out of the box. It’s amazing how much improvement you can make by carefully and logically experimenting with the graphics settings. There’s a wealth of infomation on some of the specialised flight sim sites that will help.

    Blitz !

    This one’s a classic – I can remember playing it on my Vic 20 in 1982 !

The graphics weren’t so good back then though, and it took and age to load from the cassette. Who said they were good old days ?

My mate used to have FS2002 and he did not experience the problem. I think it is a problem with your system

    And..

I used to have the same problem with FS2004. The aircraft would be blurred and the ground textures and buildings would also be blurred.

Get yourself a graphics card to sort the problem.

Cripes, you really have to wonder sometimes why people bother replying when they don’t know what they are talking about ! For goodness sake don’t go out an buy a new graphics card !

It sounds like a graphics setting – I’m pretty sure it’s mip mapping, the key is to change one setting at a time and see if it has any affect.

    Hope this helps !

I agree with Moggy – I still have the original Falcon 4 and never got much further than trying to get my head around the weapons systems. It’s good to see new life in an old sim though !

I remember it being stored with a JU52 (CASA licence built example) as well as a number of film props including a certain T6…

I believe the collection was owned by Jeff Hawke

No idea where it went from there (here) though !
